Why choose Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Hallam University is one of the UK's largest universities, based in the heart of the city and with two campuses the university offers a wide range of undergraduate subject areas.

We pride ourselves on the applied nature of our courses and offer real work experience opportunities, with students working in unique roles at the Olympic Games, Doc/Fest and Tramlines (Sheffield's city wide music festival). We have relationships with over 1,000 organisations, including the BBC, Sony, Rolls-Royce and the NHS, enabling us to offer thousands of placements every year.

On every course you have a dedicated employability adviser and our careers support has 95% student satisfaction (Life@Sheffield Hallam Survey 2017).

We’ve invested over £100 million in new buildings and facilities over the last five years, providing innovative, flexible and sustainable spaces that enhance the student experience. There are also lots of subject-specific facilities including the largest PlayStation teaching lab in the world for computing students, a flight simulator for engineering students, and a 3D virtual radiotherapy room for healthcare students.

At Sheffield Hallam we guarantee to find you accommodation in your first year. We have over 20 halls of residence to suit all budgets and tastes, ranging from small and friendly to large and sociable halls. All our halls are in popular student areas near our campuses and most are less than 10 minutes’ walk from your lectures.

Sheffield Hallam Students' Union has over 30 sports and recreational clubs for you to get involved in so whether you want to play competitively or just for fun, we have something for you. There are also over 100 student-run societies for you to choose from covering a wide range of interests.
