Ravensbourne has a relatively small population of around 2,400 enrolled students, and still manages to support an active Students’ Union with a lively program of societies and events.
Incoming students can expect a timetable of social events and activities, designed to help new students get to know each other, the college and their surroundings.
The SU is a student-run organisation, and represents the voice of its members. Membership is automatic upon joining the university, and the friendly committee are readily available to contact through the university email network.
The SU also provide students with a shop on site, which offers a range of product such as notebooks, stationery, textbooks, and other essential items. There is also a student bar on campus with discounted drinks throughout the week.
Ravensbourne University students on Whatuni say:
“Good. I think they are really good at being connected with students, for such a small team; and offer a wide range of facilities for us as students including the recent introduction of a (one night a week) bar.”
“They seem to listen and implement changes. There is also a bar now.”
The Ravensbourne SU hosts an impressive range of clubs and societies which new students can join, extending their university experience beyond the classroom and opening opportunities for socialising, learning skills and developing new interests.
There are societies across a number of interest areas including sports teams, language clubs, film and theatre groups, international and cultural societies and many more.
Further information on the range of options available can be found on the Ravensbourne SU website. Enterprising students are encouraged to set up new societies if there is sufficient interest, and the SU can provide organisational support and even financial backing.
Ravensbourne University students on Whatuni say:
“Varied and something for everyone.”
“There is not a huge variety of societies and almost no sports, but many of the existing societies bring people together to talk about common issues.”

The O2 Arena is next to the university, which is a busy hub of food and drinks vendors, as well as hosting live entertainment events throughout the year.
Greenwich Park, located conveniently nearby, is a huge open green space with hilltop views across the City of London that contains the Royal Observatory Greenwich, an almost 350 year old institution which to this day is the location from which all of the world’s time is measured.
Central London is only a short underground train journey away, where adventurous students can find thousands upon thousands of restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, parks, museums, galleries, entertainment spaces, and sports facilities, in one of the most exciting and culturally diverse cities in the world.

“Located very close to central so it's great to explore London!”
“Ravensbourne has a really good location in terms of amenities - there are plenty of shops and places to eat around thanks to being right next to the O2. Another very convenient thing is that the uni is right next to North Greenwich Tube Station, so getting into central London is quick and easy, and no matter where students live the uni is pretty easy to get to.”
“100%. Right in the centre of the O2, next to North Greenwich station and 10 min walk away.”
