The Plumpton College Students’ Union is buzzing with energy, and students from across the whole campus regularly get involved. The union hosts parties, runs events nearly every night and represents the wider student community, making sure their voices are heard. Students can get involved in yoga classes, cooking classes, wellbeing mentoring, rugby, football and much more – all run by student services. There is a dedicated HE officer and new ideas about any aspect of the student experience are always encouraged.
Students run a range of activities, ranging from the LGBTQ+ society to a sustainability club. Sport is an important part of the college’s activities, and students have free access to a gym as well as various sports teams including badminton, basketball, cricket, hockey, netball and even 5 a side football. Other extra-curricular opportunities include wine tasting and the party of the year, the annual summer ball.
The college has a regular running club, The Plumpton Hares, that both staff and students are welcome to join to improve their health in a fun and encouraging environment. The Students’ Union holds regular events throughout the academic year including Plumpton Pride , one of the most anticipated events which takes place in May.
Plumpton College is located on the edge of the South Downs National Park. The city of Brighton is close by, providing access to a wide variety of cultural entertainment as well as its famous beach. The city also has a lively nightlife, a huge variety of restaurants, and both high street and independent shops. The town of Lewes, famous for its Bonfire Night celebrations, flea markets and independent cinema, is also nearby and is well-connected by local public transport services.
