The City, Clifton and Brackenhurst campuses all have their own facilities with dedicated space for meeting friends, grabbing a drink, taking part in sports, and having a great night out at student-friendly prices.
The students’ union is located on the City Campus, forming the heart of NTU’s student population and co-ordinating a huge range of services and a buzzing social life. It was recently rated in the top 10 students’ unions in the UK, according to the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2023.
Nottingham Trent University’s sports facilities are some of the best in the country, with facilities including a ten-metre climbing wall, a 2,400-capacity nightclub venue, and a sports hall built to Sport England’s own standards.
Students at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies on the City Campus benefit from their own cafés and social spaces, as well as being just a ten-minute walk from the action at the City Campus Students’ Union.
The student community is a recently refurbished and upgraded epicentre of student life at NTU’s Clifton Campus. Students will also find an impressive range of student-oriented services and facilities at NTU’s Brackenhurst Campus, which are equally relaxed, comfortable, and easy on the wallet.

Clubs and Societies
There are over 160 clubs and societies to get involved with at Nottingham Trent University. Dozens of energetic student communities cover all kinds of interests, hobbies, language and cultures, sports and more. Students can almost always find what they’re looking for, from rock music to knitting, juggling to accountancy – or something they weren’t even looking for!
The university holds welcome activities each year to support new students in meeting like-minded people, with most societies running welcome events and activities. NTU also encourages its students to start their own societies. All of the university’s societies are student-led, with an elected student committee.
The opportunities don’t stop there. Students can volunteer both at home and abroad, become a rep for their course or residence, get paid work in a school, or be a student mentor – just a few of the ways they can boost their CVs.

Nottingham Trent University placed second in the UK for student life according to the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, reflecting the unbeatable lifestyle and student experience offered at the university.
Voted for by students, this award reflects the feedback from learners from the rich and welcoming academic and social community found at Nottingham Trent. Students are able to be fully immersed in their community, get involved in a wide range of social events, and explore all sorts of extracurricular events too.
Nottingham is a highly diverse and exciting city, with plenty to do – whether students are interested in eating and drinking out, exploring arts and culture, getting involved in a buzzing nightlife scene or exploring the beautiful English countryside that surrounds the city.
NTU is the first UK university to be awarded the Purple Flag accreditation in its own right. This accreditation confirms that a place offers an enjoyable, entertaining, diverse and safe night out, and NTU’s own recognition comes on top the city of Nottingham itself earning the award every year since 2010.
