Newcastle University has been awarded 5 QS Stars for student employability by fostering well-established links with some of the biggest graduate recruiters in the region, and is one of the top 20 universities most targeted by The Times Top 100 Employers.

The university encourages students to consider taking on a 9 to 12-month work placement to build their practical work experience. Many degrees also contain an integrated year-long work placement, whilst students also have the option to study careers modules to build on their enterprise skills whilst gaining academic credit.

The university’s new hybrid model allows for both in-person and online appointments, so students can access careers support in a way that best suits their needs. Additionally, students and recent graduates alike have full access to a database of job vacancies which can be accessed up to three years after graduation.

For budding entrepreneurs, Newcastle’s STARTUP programme offers students with innovative ideas support from a dedicated team of business advisers, a schedule of workshops and events, and access to workspaces. As a result, it should come as no surprise that the university ranks in the top 5 UK universities for graduate entrepreneurship.
