Found in central London, the London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) is a specialist institution that offer courses in:

Job Prospects

The college has built several links with leading businesses and practitioners in the creative industries. This gives you strong in-roads with potential employers come graduation time.

Each of the courses has been designed to include some practical element, while internships are offered as part of the course to give you valuable work experience for your CV. You can also take part in competitions and live briefs through the college’s commercial partners.

Alongside all that, there is a careers service to help you with things such as CV, portfolio and interview skills. Employability workshops and sessions are run throughout the year.

Course and lecturers

Several of the lecturers working at the college have spent time working in the industry, the majority of which are currently active within their chosen field. There is also a series of visiting lecturers throughout the year, keeping you up-to-date with the latest trends from the real world.

A team is available to help make sure you get appropriate accommodation during your time studying at LCCA.

There are three main options available:

  • Home Stay - Accommodation in a friendly and privately-owned home, usually located between zones 2 and 4.
  • House share - Sharing a house or flat with fellow students (usually located between zones 2 and 3).
  • Serviced studio flats - These are especially for students and found in zones 1 to 4. Prices start from £170 per week for self-catering and £600 for studios.

There’s a huge range of cutting-edge facilities available for students to use at the College. These include:

  • Cinema room
  • 3D printers
  • Green screen facilities
  • Fashion studios
  • Industrial-level sewing machines
  • Large format photographic printers
  • Mac computer studios
  • Professional video recording cameras

A library houses over 4,500 books, journals, exhibition catalogues and magazines, with a bulk devoted to the creative arts. A range of online resources can also be used by students, helping you research and create your own work.

Current students and alumni can make use of the Gallery, which showcases media, art and design work. It also hosts artists from across the globe and often works in partnership with high profile galleries and local arts groups.

LCCA is found smack bang in the middle of London, the UK’s capital city. You will never be short of something to do in this thriving metropolis, which is home to over 200 museums and galleries (double that of Paris and New York).

There’s also 150 theatres, 34,000 shops and 3,000 parks and open spaces. You can enjoy a vibrant night life, as well as immersing yourself in some of the world’s great libraries, archives and galleries.

An extremely well-connected city, you can travel to other places across the UK with ease, while several major airports can get you around the world, too.

The student counselling service (SCS) offers a variety of services including help with both academic and personal problems. They can provide counselling appointments, as well as self-help resources to help you overcome common problems by yourself.

A dedicated careers and student employability team will help you even after you’ve graduated. A disability services team is also on hand to offer support and guidance for those that need it, this encompasses long-term illnesses and conditions, as well as specific learning difficulties and autistic spectrum conditions.

The Deans Scholarship

This fund is available to both home and international students. It is funded by the Executive Dean and Managing Director of the college and is open to students who can demonstrate academic merits. If you receive the award, you will be expected to act as an ambassador for LCCA, assisting with marketing efforts once it is awarded.

In order to apply, you can fill out a form available via the website. You will need to include information on what you expect to gain from the course you’re taking, and what you intend to do after completing the course.

As a specialist college, only courses centred around the creative arts are offered at the LCCA.

Entry requirements

Undergraduate level courses generally require you to have a full secondary / high-school education and qualifications, and you need to be at least 18 years old. You’ll also be required to fill in an application form, provide a personal statement and send in a copy of your passport / ID card. Some courses require a portfolio to be submitted, and you may be asked to attend an interview.
