Leeds Conservatoire prides itself on providing vocational, performance-orientated training which is reflective of the needs of the music and performing arts industries. Students are led by expert academic staff with impressive creative backgrounds, passing on a wealth of experience to the next generation.
The conservatoire has a number of partnerships with local, national, and international music and performing arts organisations including Pop4, Opera North, Backstage Academy, Leeds Playhouse, Red Ladder Theatre Company, Ivors Academy, ERASMUS+, and the International Songwriting Camp. This gives students various opportunities to develop their skills including collaborations, masterclass workshops and international study.
Along with the chance to perform at many showcases and partner events, students can also utilise the Artistry and Enterprise service to get support in developing their talent and material, whether it’s shooting videos, creating their own merchandise or getting help with mixing and mastering. This service also helps students find paid booking opportunities.
97% of all Leeds Conservatoire students are in work or study within six months of graduation, with approximately 80% finding work in the creative industries, according to the most recent DHLE data (2017). Successful alumni have gone on to find success in a range of careers, from performing in the West End and composing for Hollywood films to performing professionally as a solo artist.
