Leeds Conservatoire has two main halls of residence. Both are owned by private companies separate from the school.
Joseph Stones House (managed by Unite Students) is situated on campus, directly above the main campus building. Students have a choice of basic and premium rooms, all of which are grouped together in flats with between 3 and 7 students. Studio rooms (single and double) are also available with a private kitchenette. Rooms cost between £159 and £219 per week and include all utilities, Wi-Fi and basic contents insurance.
One Mill Street (owned by Unipol Housing) is located just a short (four-minute) walk from the conservatoire’s campus and is a large, modern building. Rooms are available in flats with between three and six bedrooms. Students can choose between a standard bedroom (with shared bathroom, kitchen and living areas) or en-suite bedroom (shared kitchen and living area). Prices range from £139 per week to £150 per week and include utilities, Wi-Fi, and basic contents insurance.
Rooms in both of these halls are allocated on a first come, first served basis, to first year undergraduates only. There are many other private options available to anyone who misses out on these halls.
Leeds Conservatoire ensures that students can hone their talents in contemporary, purpose-built performance and rehearsal spaces. Facilities are all equipped with leading equipment and software, so that students can progress into their career comfortable with the resources they will be using professionally.
These include:
Playhouse Square
Home to acting, actor musician, and musical theatre students, playhouse square provides a 180-seat capacity theatre, state-of-the-art dance and drama studios and rehearsal rooms, and changing and breakout spaces.
The Venue
A 350-seat, purpose-built theatre plays host to the conservatoire’s jam-packed annual programme of events, and student showcase performances.
Rooftop Bar
The Rooftop Bar provides study and breakout spaces for students and spaces for intimate acoustic performances, alongside stunning city views.
Recital Room
A 120-seat space used for various performances, workshops and student nights.
Beyond venues, the conservatoire also provides high-spec equipment to students. It is the only conservatoire in the UK to hold ‘All-Steinway School’ status, meaning that 95% of pianos come from the renowned Steinway family.
The impressive library has over 8,000 books and 28,000 items of printed music as well as many play texts, all available for students to use.
Away from studying, the café bar at the centre of campus provides a vibrant space for students to grab some food and enjoy the regular social activities organised by the SU team.
