The Students’ Union represents the student voice at Hartpury in all aspects of student life. For students keen on sports, the university has lots to get involved with, from equestrian and polo, to hockey and vaulting, and the SU also organises a packed schedule of events and activities throughout the year.
This includes pool tournaments, quiz nights, fancy dress parties, excursions to places such as Bath, London, and Oxford, and the annual Freshers’ fair. They also organise a summer and winter ball each year. Recent acts have included Chase & Status, Katie B, Labyrinth, Scouting for Girls, and the Vengaboys.
They also work hard to ensure students’ thoughts and ideas for change are heard at department and board levels. Students are encouraged to get involved with the SU, where they’ll have plenty of opportunities to help shape the future of the university.
The SU also provides opportunities to get involved in charity work, volunteering, and campaigning.
Hartpury University students on Whatuni say:
“The campus bar is also very nice, with cosy seats and really good pizza.”
“Everyone is really friendly!”
“It is evident the university likes to help and support its students to the best of its ability and I am looking forward to my next year.”
All new Hartpury students are invited to the Freshers’ Fair at the beginning of the year. It’s a great opportunity to find out about all of the clubs and societies on offer. Students can meet the club members, find out what they’ve got planned and sign up for something new. The SU are always happy to support students to set up new clubs too – a great way to develop organisation and management skills for the CV.
There are 20 different clubs and societies to choose from at Hartpury. These are:
