Hartpury has a very active students’ union, which acts as a representational body of the Hartpury community and makes the student voice heard. The SU co-ordinates a whole range of clubs and societies, as well as organising on-site entertainment throughout the year, including the summer and winter balls which host big-name acts.
In addition to this, the SU provides employability support and opportunities for students to get involved in charity work, volunteering, and campaigning. More information is available on the university website.
Hartpury University students on Postgraduate Search say:
“Friendly staff and people.”
“I feel valued and supported here and I’m excited to see what the rest of the year has to offer.”
The university’s societies and clubs are part of the student’s union. There are around 20 to choose from, including a large selection of both competitive and recreational sports teams.
Students have opportunities to get involved with all kinds of sports, from equestrian and polo, to hockey and vaulting – not to mention the sports academies for those looking to play at an elite level. If students can’t find the society or sports club they’re looking for, the SU can help them in starting their own.
Hartpury University students on Postgraduate Search say:
“As a sports student I’d recommend Hartpury to anyone who wanted to play or study sport. ”
“If you’re into sport then it’s the ideal place to go. There are loads of teams in various activities from football, rugby, equine etc that anyone can get involved in.”
Hartpury postgraduate students are spoilt for choice and able to enjoy the best of both city and country life. The campus spans 360 hectares of beautiful countryside, whilst Cheltenham Spa town and Gloucester city are just a short drive or bus ride away.
Gloucestershire is well-known as ‘the festival county’, home to over 45 music, arts, sport and food festivals each year. Both Cheltenham town and Gloucester city are full of life and have had significant developments over the past 10 years.
The shopping in Cheltenham is enjoyed by those from afar, with boutique and luxury fashion brands alike. The newly developed Gloucester Quays is a favourite among students for outlet stores, al fresco summer dining and vibrant café and trendy bar cultures.
Regular buses run from campus to both locations and others across Gloucestershire and beyond.
Hartpury University students on Postgraduate Search say:
“Hartpury is in a wonderful location. Close to Cheltenham and Gloucester, there are plenty of places to stay.”
