Harper Adams University was founded in 1901 and is set on a 494-hectare farm. It specialises in agriculture and areas like the planet's development, food production, land management and sustainability.
The uni is located in the middle of England in the county of Shropshire. Due to its location, transport access isn't the best, as the nearest train station is Telford Central, which is 10 miles away from the uni, however, you'll probably find more direct train services from the slightly further away stations of Stafford and Shrewsbury. There's a regular train service from Birmingham International to both Telford Central and Shrewsbury. Birmingham Airport is the closest airport and is situated around an hour south of the university.
Despite the lack of a major city or town, there's still a good social scene at Harper Adams. The Students' Union puts on events like fancy dress parties, comedy nights, film nights and themed balls. There are also numerous clubs and societies to join and the campus has a large main bar, as well as a cosy inn. Off-campus you'll find clubs, bars, cafes, shopping opportunities and more.

Most first-year students at Harper Adams live on campus, within walking distance of all the uni's facilities. The on-campus halls are all within a short distance of each other. You can choose between catered and self-catered options, depending on what your meal-time preferences are.
Catered halls include breakfast and dinner from Monday to Friday, as well as communal kitchen facilities. You're also able to choose between en suite and shared bathroom residences.
All options include free parking on-campus, a regular cleaning service and free internet access in all rooms. The campus accommodations are very safe and include round-the-clock security services, campus-wide CCTV and card entry systems.
Most uni halls are available on a 40- or 42-week contract, with a few 36-week letting options which require students to vacate the halls (including their belongings) during the Easter break. Prices currently range from around £4,457 to £6,877 per year.
If you'd rather not live in uni accommodation, there are off-campus living options too. This is more common with second and third-year students, however. Most of the off-site student living options are within a six-mile radius of the uni in Newport and Edgmond.

The scholarship is worth up to £5,000 per academic year (not including placement years).
Additionally, the Hubbard Breeders Scholarship is open to second-year BSc and first-year FdSc students who are interested in a career in the poultry sector. It's worth £4,500 and employment with Hubbard Breeders during the placement year.
More information about the available scholarships and their eligibility criteria can be found online on the uni's funding pages.
