Cornwall is a place within the UK like no other, and Falmouth is perched at the very tip of the southern coastline stretching out into the Atlantic ocean. Surrounded by a huge variety of beaches, harbours and inlets, the area has some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in the UK, and all within ready access by foot, car or by public transport. There is plenty to discover, and student reviewers were extremely praiseworthy of their university hometown.
Falmouth itself is a relatively small town when compared to some of the larger city universities, which many students find attractive. Despite its size, there are plenty of shops as well as a selection of independent cafes and coffee shops. Cornwall is known for its top restaurants and strong artistic scene, and Falmouth is no exception. It hosts the National Maritime Museum which gives an insight into the seafaring heritage of the area, and the Tate Gallery at St Ives is a short journey away by car or public transport.
Falmouth University students on Whatuni say:
“Falmouth town is actually such a wonderful place as it isn't too crowded and has many shops, most of which are independent businesses.”
“Living in Falmouth is convenient for food shopping, nights out etc.”
“With the beach just a train ride away is fantastic and I'm very grateful for that. All the wildlife around campus is beautiful and so pretty.”
