The Engineering College of Technology (ECT) is a specialist institution dedicated exclusively to engineering and technology education. Through industry-focused programmes and professional certificates, ECT equips students with the practical skills and expertise needed to thrive in today's rapidly evolving engineering landscape. Developed in collaboration with global industry partners and delivered by experienced engineering professionals, its programmes combine academic excellence with real-world relevance.
Fully online and supported by innovative learning technologies, including virtual laboratories, advanced simulation software, and secure online assessment, ECT offers an engaging learning experience for working professionals worldwide. Students benefit from personalised support, small class sizes, and an international learning community while earning globally recognised UK qualifications or professional certificates (3-month, non-accredited Professional Certificates of Competency, delivered by ECT's affiliated institute, EIT). By making world-class engineering education both accessible and affordable, ECT empowers learners to advance their careers without compromising their professional or personal commitments.
ECT's virtual learning environment, Moodle, provides students with everything they need to support their studies. Through Moodle, students can access programme and module materials, watch lectures and webinars, complete online assessments, and receive assessment results and feedback from their academics.
Moodle also provides access to Electromeet, ECT's purpose-built remote laboratory environment. Electromeet gives students the opportunity to gain practical engineering experience alongside their lectures and tutorials, allowing them to interact with real equipment, sensors and engineering systems remotely from their own computer.
ECT's online learning environment includes:
Unlike many traditional online programmes, ECT combines structured online learning with extensive practical learning opportunities, helping students develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed in modern engineering.
ECT's master's degrees are delivered entirely online, allowing students to study from anywhere in the world without the need to relocate. This enables students to continue working and manage their personal commitments while earning a globally recognised UK qualification.
Eligible students can apply for a scholarship at ECT to cover some of the costs associated with the tuition fees for their course.
ECT Academic Excellence Scholarship
Offering a 35% reduction on tuition fees, this scholarship is open to students studying on both bachelor's and master's degrees at ECT. Students who can demonstrate academic excellence are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must meet the entry requirements for their chosen programme. For admission to a BEng programme, applicants should normally have a minimum of three A Levels at grade B or above, including Mathematics, or a full Level 3 qualification achieved at Merit or Distinction overall, including a Merit in the Mathematics/Physical Science element.
Alison Brown Women in Engineering Scholarship
Offering a 20% reduction on tuition fees, this scholarship is open to women applying to ECT to study on a bachelor's or master's degree.
Applicants must include a 500-word statement alongside their application, explaining how their degree will benefit their career and their community.
Tuition fees for domestic (UK) students in 2026 are as follows:
Costs vary for international students and those applying from overseas. Students should check the website or contact admissions if they would like to know more.
For the 2026/27 academic year, ECT is offering two bachelor's degree programmes and two master's degree programmes, as well as a selection of professional certificates. All programmes are available for structured online study, and may be studied full-time or part-time.
The undergraduate programmes are designed with industry needs in mind and taught by experienced engineering professionals, giving students a strong foundation in engineering principles alongside practical knowledge that can be applied in the workplace. Delivered entirely online, learning includes live interactive tutorials, remote and virtual laboratories, engineering simulation software and dedicated academic support.
Practical learning is embedded throughout every programme. Students develop hands-on engineering skills through virtual and remote laboratories featuring real-world scenarios, simulations and remotely operated equipment. Industry-informed projects and practical activities help students connect engineering theory to real-world applications and develop the technical and problem-solving skills needed for a career in engineering.
ECT currently offers two specialist BEng programmes:
Students graduate with an internationally recognised UK qualification through innovative teaching, affordable tuition fees, small class sizes and personalised support. ECT's programmes provide aspiring and practising engineers with the practical knowledge, skills and confidence to advance their careers or continue further study.

Build engineering expertise with an institution focused on the future. At ECT students benefit from industry-relevant programmes, expert teaching and a supportive online learning environment designed to help working professionals advance their careers.
Global perspective
Since degree programmes at ECT are exclusively taught online, students can study from anywhere in the world, with access to modules provided through the virtual learning platform. Students can also attend interactive events, webinars and training programmes to supplement their learning.
Students benefit from small class sizes at ECT, meaning they are able to build meaningful bonds with their lecturers and classmates. Students will find themselves working with peers and professionals from around the world and as such experience a truly global perspective in their studies.
The online course structure enables ECT to employ expert lecturers from around the world, so that students begin to understand their industry on a truly international scale and graduate with a unique set of insights that make them highly employable in today's global workforce.
In addition to its partnership with the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT), a leading engineering and technology education and training provider in Australia, it is also affiliated with the Engineering College of Science and Technology (ECST) in South Africa.
At ECT, student life is built around connection, collaboration and support, regardless of where students are in the world. As a fully online institution, students will join a global community of engineering professionals, sharing ideas and experiences with classmates and lecturers across multiple countries and industries.
Rather than studying independently, students participate in scheduled live and interactive tutorials where they can ask questions, collaborate with peers and engage directly with experienced engineering lecturers. Practical learning is enhanced through remote and virtual laboratories, engineering simulation software and interactive online technologies that replicate real-world engineering environments.
From your first day, students will receive personalised support from a dedicated learning support officer, who provides guidance throughout their studies and helps learners balance academic, professional and personal commitments. Small class sizes encourage meaningful interaction with lecturers and fellow students, creating a collaborative learning environment where every student is known and supported. Additional workshops on study skills, time management, wellbeing and career development are available to help students succeed throughout their learning journey.
Whether students are advancing their career while working full-time or studying from another part of the world, ECT's flexible online community ensures they'll benefit from expert teaching, professional networking opportunities and personalised support, without the need to relocate or put a career on hold.
Every degree at ECT has been designed to advance students' engineering careers. The quality of these programmes means that students graduate not only with an internationally recognised degree, but also with specialist skills coveted by employers in the engineering and technology sector.
Degrees are industry focussed and founded in the latest industry and research insights, and students are prepared for the evolving landscapes of their specialist subject areas. As such, every learner is equipped for success no matter which direction their engineering career takes after graduation.
The industry-led curriculum connects engineering theory with practical application, helping students develop skills that reflect current engineering practices and technologies. Through projects, simulations, virtual and remote laboratories and real-world engineering scenarios, students can build the confidence and practical understanding needed to apply their knowledge in the workplace and progress throughout their engineering careers.
