The Edge Hill Students’ Union is where campus really comes to life. Students become a member as soon as they enrol, giving them access to all opportunities and services including an annual programme of events, the student advice centre and over 60 student-led societies.
The Advice Team offers friendly, confidential advice to students who need help either academically or about personal issues. EHSU also strives to make sure that student voices are heard. Each year students elect a team of Sabbatical Officers to represent them on university committees to ensure changes students want to see are communicated to university leaders.
Edge Hill University students on Postgraduate search says:
The Students Union is really good and do all they can to listen to the students concerns and recommendations for the uni. They do make a lot of change. However as all student unions they can only change certain things and other changes have to go to the uni itself.
The students’ union manages a whole host of diverse clubs and societies to enrich the student experience. From sports teams, recreation and social societies to academic, political groups and faith and culture societies, there’s something for everyone.
They offer students an opportunity to pursue their passions, make new friends and get out their comfort zone to try something new.
If students can’t find a club or society that interests them, they are encouraged to start their own – they can simply fill out a form and find five other like-minded students to get started. Funding, advice, and facilities are all available for new societies. Societies usually run once a week and offer a relaxed and fun way to make friends.
Edge Hill University students on Postgraduate search say:
“Edge Hill has a large selection of different societies for all people, sporty people have your regular societies like rugby, hockey, football, American football etc. While for people that don't like to be sporty there are loads from not going out societies, to Harry Potter or Disney societies. There is something for everyone.”
Ormskirk is a historic market town full of surprises that makes it a unique place to live and learn. Students in Ormskirk will enjoy a combination of green spaces, quirky bars and quaint cafes and restaurants. It’s just a ten-minute walk from campus or two-minute journey taking the free university shuttle bus.
Located in West Lancashire, Edge Hill offers the best of both worlds. An abundance of nightlife options, shops and cultural attractions are catered for by the nearby vibrant cities of Liverpool and Manchester. A hotspot for music and sport, Liverpool is only a 30-minute train ride away.
For students who prefer the great outdoors, some of the UK’s most beautiful stretches of countryside and iconic seaside resorts are on Edge Hill’s doorstep, including the rugged mountains of Wales and the Lake District. These are just a few of the things only a campus-based university can offer to expand students’ opportunities, creating lifelong memories during their studies.
Edge Hill University students on Postgraduate search say:
“Yes, everything is within walking distance. Shops, social, train station and bus station. With the free bus it means that even if the weather is rubbish everything is accessible.”
