Job prospects

De Montfort University Leicester aims to provide students with the skills and experience employers expect from candidates. It places a strong emphasis on industry partnerships, to help students find careers and other opportunities after graduation. Work placements and internships are available (availability dependent on course), with volunteering to help enhance CVs. Research students have the opportunity to undertake training in teaching techniques to put what they have learned into practice in the classroom, with a view to developing skills for a future academic career.

The university’s careers programme, DMU Works, means all students have access to professional work experience opportunities, from business insights to placements and networking opportunities.

Students can gain real industry experience through virtual and in-person employer talks, insight visits, placements (availability dependent on course) and employability mentoring with companies such as Bosch, Disney, IBM, Intel, Jaguar Land Rover, Matalan, McAfee, Meggitt Aerospace, PwC, Rolls-Royce and Siemens.

DMU’s postgraduates have gone on to work at major employers in the UK and internationally, start their own businesses, and become respected leaders in their fields. Students studying remotely are also able to gain access and support to the DMU Works team and services as those studying on campus.
