DMU’s aim is to help every student reach their personal academic goal, as well as fostering a positive teaching and learning experience. With this in mind, the majority of DMU's postgraduate students get to enjoy an innovative approach to learning, known as ‘Education 2030’ using block teaching. This allows them to focus on one subject at a time, instead of several at once, with more regular assessments and a better study-life balance. DMU is one of the few universities in the country to offer the block teaching method.
Alongside their course, students are also encouraged to enrol in the university’s mentoring and peer mentoring schemes, allowing students to hone their own skills while working with other students for the betterment of the university as a whole.
Postgraduate students have several course options to choose from. Master’s degrees are studied for a duration of one year with full-time attendance, or two years with part-time attendance.
MPhil and PhD students are assigned supervisors that are experts in their respective fields, often engaged in active research projects. MPhils typically take 1-2 years for full-time study, or up to 4 if part-time. PhD students can expect to study 3-4 years full-time on their research, or up to 6 years part-time.
