Undeb Bangor is Bangor University’s Students' Union (SU) and acts as the representational voice of the university’s community. Undeb functions to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and fairly represented within the university, with the diversity and inclusion of all students regardless of background at the heart of the SU’s guiding policies.
The students’ union is the beating heart of student life at Bangor University and organises a diverse and exciting social calendar throughout the year. There are more than 150 clubs and special interest societies for students to choose from at Bangor University and all are free to join. Student reviewers of Bangor University frequently mention the important role that the SU has had in their positive social and educational experiences during their time at Bangor. Within this varied programme of clubs, societies and events, there are dedicated postgraduate societies in addition to degree-specific groups for students to actively involve themselves with.
The SU is an independently run organization which offers student volunteers the opportunity to immerse themselves in Bangor’s thriving university culture, creating spaces in which students can socialise and expand their cultural horizons. The SU offers opportunities for students to meet likeminded peers through established societies, while also offering students the options to create their own societies and clubs with guided support and funding.

Bangor University’s students’ union provides a huge variety of student-run clubs and societies, with over 150 entirely free organisations to choose from. With a population of only 14,000, Bangor is a small city with a close-knit community and a unique way of life. Students will soon find that most local amenities are conveniently located within easy walking distance of the university campus. There are many independent cafes and eateries to be discovered, as well as coffee shops and long-established community pubs serving a selection of local ales and food options.
Bangor’s Victorian Garth Pier is a Grade II listed structure which extends over 450 metres in length and was voted Pier of the Year 2022 by the National Piers Society. As well as providing a wonderful destination for a scenic seaside walk, it’s a great way to take in the local landscape and enjoy some refreshments.
Bangor is regularly ranked as one of the most affordable places to study in the UK, and with a location in an area of renowned natural beauty between the mountains of Snowdonia and the sandy beaches of Anglesey, there are plenty of outdoor activities to explore. In addition to Bangor’s historic city centre, students can explore the charming nearby towns of Beaumaris, Caernarfon and Conwy with relative ease.
