WUSCA 2022 Halls and Student Accommodation

The Accommodation ranking was decided by students from this institution rating them in a Whatuni review. This formed the basis for the 2022 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).

The Bangor halls of residence for undergraduate students are located at the Ffriddoedd Village and the St Mary's Village. Both university accommodation centres are within walking distance of the university and the centre of Bangor. All accommodation is self-catered, rent includes all bills and both villages have on-site security available 24 hours a day. First year students who register Bangor University as their first choice are guaranteed a place in university accommodation.

Students are full of praise for these student homes, regularly commenting on how spacious they are, the affordability, how safe they felt and the sense of community around them. Residents also receive gym and Campus Life membership included in the price.

“My accommodation is amazing. It's really affordable but high quality, and the team that work there have really good customer service skills.”

Bangor has a range of superb student facilities, both for the academic and social sides of university life.

Their main library received particularly positive comments from student reviewers, who loved the range of study spaces that catered for both individual and group study. The building also includes a comprehensive suite of learning resources including meeting rooms and quiet zones, and computer laboratories open 24-7 with over 1000 computers.

Bangor is continuously investing in its facilities, including the Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre, and improved sports facilities amongst its developments. It also has state-of-the-art outdoor and indoor facilities, as well as a fully-equipped health and fitness centre. Learning facilities include state-of-the-art science labs, an fMRI Scanner and exercise physiology testing and even has its own research vessel the ‘Prince Madog’.

“Bangor has been great, the Pontio co-working spaces have been open for all students all year and are now open 24/7 again. The language department computer lab is also open and so is the computer lab in my student village. It's great to be able to have options of where to work.”

“All the labs are up to date and are clean shared spaces. I’m also part of a society in which the equipment hire is excellent.”
