Overview

Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education (Alm College) is a progressive institution of Higher Education, founded in 2001 through funding by the Al-Maktoum Foundation. Its main aim was to establish meaningful connections between the western and Muslim worlds through applied research and intellectual discourse, and it continues to build upon its goals to become a recognised institution of higher education.

The college is located in Dundee, Scotland’s fourth largest city, and offers a range of innovative programmes in the fields of Islamic finance, moral economy, sustainable development, organisational learning, Middle Eastern studies and more. Among its range of courses are several postgraduate level options including Scotland’s first master’s degree in Islamic Banking and Finance, and an MPhil in studies of The Middle East in a Global Context, alongside a selection of certificates, diplomas and language programmes for enhancing professional development.

Alm College is staffed by a specialist team of academics and practitioners, who contribute their expertise and enthusiasm to the college’s high-quality curriculum, research and multicultural perspectives. The college has established strong partnerships with local and international universities including the University of Dundee, Trinity College Dublin and Abertay University, who accredits the master’s programmes offered.
