There are many options available to AECC University College students seeking accommodation. There is a strong network of local landlords who have accommodated students for years in flats and houses close to campus and there are also private halls of residence closer to the center of Bournemouth.
The Student Services Team offers a guide for students to help them with their search – they can provide advice on the best option depending on the students’ needs and are the first point of call for all accommodation concerns.
AECC’s primary hall of residence, Lulworth House, can be found centrally in Bournemouth, and is only two miles from campus. The halls are conveniently located on a direct bus route to the campus which is just a stone's throw away from a wide range of bars, restaurants, shops, and award-winning beaches.
The accommodation is registered with the National Code of assured accommodation so students can be assured of the safety and quality of their new homes.
Students won’t find equipment like this in every institution. The university maintains one of seven open upright MRI scanners across the country, in addition to digital X-ray equipment, quantitative fluoroscopy and high-specification Samsung and AGFA ultrasound scanners.
In the Human Performance Laboratory, students can access state-of-the-art testing and analysis equipment used to support professional sportspeople. They will also be able to learn about rehabilitation, injury resistance and performance enhancement at the Exercise Centre.
The university’s beautiful library is a converted chapel and contains the original stain glass windows and architecture. Here students will find a wealth of resources including databases, e-journals and e-books, as well as access to Anatomy TV (interactive digital learning software).
Other facilities include:
The university also offers a recently refurbished student gym with state-of-the-art equipment. Many of AECC’s students compete professionally and need the best equipment available.
The campus café offers hot and cold food to order and the student bar ‘Toggler’s Arms’ is home to many social and celebratory events. The university also has a lounge area, outdoor seating, and other places to relax or study.
