Aberystwyth University’s Students’ Union is led by students for students with the aim of giving them the best student experience possible.
The Students’ Union is comprised of five officers on a full-time basis, in addition to seven part-time officers. With this strong complement of student-focused staff, the Union is able to deliver an outstanding quality of service to its students. by the students and independent from the university, they support students and stand up for their rights.
Open all-year-round, the Students’ Union offers a sociable and relaxing space to study, unwind or actively participate in activities. Students can also find two bars, including fresh Starbucks coffee and Nosh Da food, along with a student shop.
The entertainment team ensures a busy and full programme of events for the year. During Welcome Week, a whole host of events and activities run, to enable students to explore everything on offer.
The Union also runs the Advice Centre, providing independent support and representation, whether academic, welfare, or financial, for students who may find themselves needing extra support while at university. Students are also given a platform to get their voices heard, whether it be on aspects of their course or on university issues.
As in many other areas of the University, student reviewers spoke of the friendly, welcoming environment that can be found at the SU.

Aberystwyth University is home to over 100 sports clubs and societies and includes groups such as the Debating Society and the Film Society. The university is also home to a huge range of sporting activities including football, rugby, hockey, equestrian, hiking, sailing, surfing and more — giving students the chance to get out and enjoy one of Aberystwyth’s greatest assets.
Every academic year there is a society fair, so students can explore every group and club available and find the perfect one to suit them. Societies at Aberystwyth are a fantastic way to meet like-minded people and make life-long friends.
The university prides itself on providing excellent support to students taking part in or running societies. If a student can’t quite find their perfect society, the Students’ Union will assist them in setting one up and recruiting new members.
