Sort:Latest reviewsWinchester is a beautiful place to live and study, the University is only a short walk from town where there are loads of things to shop/eat. There isn't much I would say needs to be improved, but maybe the night life could be improved, and possibly some of the amenities could be updated, as when I was living in Burma last year, our oven was awful.
The course is so well structured and although there are many assignments, support is always available if you need it. In the middle and end of each module they lecturers ask for online feedback and they act on this for our year and we can see the changes they have made from the old second years feedback. Bop nights are always fun and there’s so many great societies to get involved with sport wise and for social aspects. Although we are a smaller uni, I love the community feel and how they’ll always be people around that you know. The west downs facilities are great and you can use your key card to get into the library, 24 hours a day which is great for working and studying. The student union are always running different events in the day and at night, so if you’re not a big drinker, you can still participate. As I am a student with a learning disability, I do feel that the Support I get for that is largely from DSA (Government) And not from the uni. When I was in first year, we created a learning agreement, but the problem is that not all lectures read them so you either have to talk to every single different lecture you have or cope by yourself which is what I do. I have figured out what works best for me in my studies and I am very successful in my assignments so this hasn’t held me back but it is something I think could be improved.

Best aspects: The university attains many excellent resources and facilities, ranging from study spaces to various teams and hubs - such as the Careers and Opportunities Team, a very helpful resource. There are also many other student support services at the university that assist students regarding a variety of concerns or situations.
Winchester University gives you the space to become the person you want to be. I am really enjoying my Social work degree, I think if you’re considering this course you must be prepared for lots of self directed study and time management skills. One thing that has continued to cause us issues are the unreliable checking into lectures software that we have on our phones.
The university itself is such a lovely place with it's mix of modern and older architecture and Winchester city centre is very pretty and though it's not that big of a city it feels like a welcoming place. Student support have been very helpful for me, giving me resources to help find a job while at university. The student union is good, running events such as Bop on a Wednesday night but it would be nice if they did more one off style events, e.g. repeats of the silent disco, or themed nights like is done in freshers week.
Just a really accepting, calm, peaceful place to study. Always felt comfortable here.
The University of Winchetster has state-of-the-art facilities which were meticulously crafted to enhance productivity and engagement of learners and I couldn’t think of a better place to do my degree other than here. The supportive departments like student support make learning comfortable and enjoyable. The University is also ranked among the top 10 Universities in the UK for graduates in employment and further study. This made Winchester stand out for me when I was deciding on where to study.
Great staff and student body, the university isn't so large so it feels like you know people every time you walk into a campus cafe or go into town. We have a great student support team but the best support comes from the lecturers being open to feedback and guiding us if we are struggling.
It is very welcoming and the Student Union are very active, sometimes it feels as though the uni could provide a lot more support for its students though . In terms of disabilities but also listening to what we want e.g. more parking - parking here is horrific.

Best is the location it’s super small and close to the city centre. Worst part is that we don’t have great night life.
The university is an incredibly welcoming and friendly place to study, with all of the support you could need and set in a beautiful location, a small city that has all the essentials, nature on your doorstep and easy travel to larger cities such as Southampton.
Winchester is a lovely place and it’s got a very big community feel to it. Everyone’s very friendly and the staff are amazing.

Winchester is a really great university if you’re like me and prefer a much smaller place to study and aren’t the most into night clubs but also do like occasionally drinking. The only things is that a lot of people complain about the system in order to get certain types of student support

The campus is so pretty and always has such a nice vibe about it. The campus feels safe and I like that we have both the King Alfred Quater and the West Downs Quater. The class rooms/lecture halls vary in size meaning we have lectures in really nice sized classrooms suitable for our course. Our lecturers have so much knowledge and previous experience working with young people which is very valuable. The facilities including the sports facilities and the huge 24 hour library are very good and useful and the overall location of the university is very good. Parking in and around winchester could be improved.

Best is the teaching staff, worst is the time it takes to sort out any issues
Excellent teaching and facilities. Lectures are informative and engaging and set assignments are career relevant. The placement side of the degree has enabled me to grow enormously as an individual and in my skillset as a teacher. The university has many study spaces to choose from and is well equipped and quiet. There are always events and initiatives being held on campus which support students in managing different areas of life; studying, finances, mental health, student success, etc.

There’s a lot of resources available and the lessons are always engaging and very well taught, the lecturers are all knowledgeable and easy to talk to. There is a lot of reading to do.
The rooms are big and has everything I need and the kitchen has a good view as well as the bedroom window. They aren’t very modern and there could be more of a living space l.
