Very interesting course, love the practical side of the course. Facilities and support services are all good
Great lecturers, they are very passionate about their subject and make the lectures very interesting.
Very interesting social life and academically sound. The course is quite challenging and interactive
Practical skills + academic study is the best part of the course, we get the practical experience of organising real events which is totally amazing
I am having an enjoyable experience at the Uni. The course is interesting and is well structured, tutors are helpful and with this degree I am sure my chances of getting into a dream job is quite high
good teaching modules and good facilities but lacks better video/film equipment to make their students have the experience and be ready to go into working in the work industry.
not much financial support
lecturers with industry experience
modules teach a lot of useful things to take into the industry world making contacts is your job
Dear fellow students around the UK and to whom else concerned, In writing this review I am taking into consideration the viewpoints of my fellow friends and students at the University of West London. Apart from a small percentage, most of the lectures and tutors are inadequate. Students are left worried and concerned about many issues regarding their course and studies. I have experienced this first hand, I tried to get the help and support and was shunned by the head of hospitality. Complaints have even reached the director of the university, which have been ignored or poorly responded to. Actual seminars and lectures are OK, but could be improved greatly. Most students leave half way through as most of information is irrelevant to assignments. Some teachers refuse to check work and rarely respond to emails. There is a lot of bullying that occurs during and after class from some students, which has been ignored by security who witnessed this first hand. Overall, unfortunately staff are rude, unhelpful and unwilling to go the extra mile to support their students. I write this with regret but my experience alongside many students at the University of West London who have not bothered to speak up, definitely would NOT encourage any new students to join this university. Full-time hospitality courses can be only 2 days per week with around 8 hours of teaching. We pay full time fees at 8,000 per year, honestly a complete waste of time and money. Most of us have self-taught ourselves from home using snippets of power points dated back 4 years. Yours sincerely, Anonymous.
No facilities. Wasted student's money on around 15 new TV systems to show cheap messages about nothing relevant.
No support what so ever, unless you have a disability. Then perhaps the staff may spare 1 minute of their precise time.
Student Union compromises of rugby lads and netball girls. As a third year student I have seen NO help or purpose of the student union.
Please refer to general comment.
Waste of money, prison like halls. Rude and sexually habited security and staff. Residents are constantly on edge and treated like primary school children.
This university is very welcoming and there is always someone there to help with your enquiry. The student support Wellbeing team are very helpful especially if you have any learning difficulties, I am dyslexic and they helped me a lot when I needed the support in my assignments. The main negative about the university however is parking so if you are planning to travel by car this will be an issue as there is not a designated parking area and most places are permit holders only or you can only part for up to 1 hour. The lectures on the other hand are very nice, they are welcoming and friendly which helps you settle into the university lifestyle.
I have had a lot of problems with my university specific email address and despite trying to get this issue resolved after calling the help line numerously I have given up on getting this sorted.
Student support have been excellent as I am dyslexic they have helped me a lot with informing my lectures and providing me with a cover sheet to put in front of every assignment.
Although I have not been to any events run by the student union I am not too familiar with what they do, however, on the induction day the student union were helping in showing us where we had to go.
The university is located in a nice area as local transport is on the doorstep also the town centre is not very far away however for someone like me who drives to university there is very limited parking and I have already received 2 parking tickets as I have to constantly put another ticket on my car every hour!
I am yet to join a society because I don't really know how to.
My lectures are absolutely fantastic, again they are so welcoming and make you feel comfortable in the new environment. The course I am studying is also very fun although there is a lot of coursework but I am enjoying my time here.
I have had a lot of help with getting a job more convenient for me. There staff are constantly updating the notice boards when a new position becomes available.
I do not live in the accommodation however I have heard a lot of good things about them.
I really like my university campus. I'm located at Ealing and although it isn't finished yet the classroom sizes and layouts are very good. The teachers are all very nice and welcoming. My course has no exams so I like the fact that we have a personal tutor to support us with any problems including personal ones that affect our work. I really like the location of the university. I'm from south East London and I've never really been to the west part but I like how the uni is a 10/15 minute walk from Ealing Broadway which is really helpful when you need last minute supplies. The only negative I have is that the library isn't on site but it's at Ealing Broadway although in the process of being moved and not too far it is a slight inconvenience.
We have a book shop which every student gets £100 for a year and allows you to apply for extra support if your home earns under a certain wage. I like how we just clock in to the machine in the back/front of the classroom. We have free WiFi all around the university
We all have a personal tutor but even if we didn't our lecturers are all supportive and understanding of circumstances. We also have the administration for our department who deals with problems.
I haven't interacted with them much but they provide nice facilities such as the gym and the bar. Having course reps is really helpful in getting our opinions across.
Being in London the city life is one that I'm already familiar with being mainly central London. They also have some clubs in Kingston I've never been to Hut 65 is a night bus which carries you straight from Ealing there and back.
There are many clubs and societies but being first year and commuting I haven't signed up to any. Next year I hope to sign up to pilates, dance and musical theatre.
I love my course. For first year is very in depth into events management, the history of it, how skills in university relate to the role and actual case study work. I feel it's good that it's course work based as exams wouldn't be of much benefit regarding the course. I also think it's amazing how the course had an foundation degree option allowing those with lower grades the opportunity to study and still leave with a baccalaureate degree if they complete their work well enough. The lectures are nice but I think as with any university the teaching styles of some lecturers lack a certain amount of engagement.
The university said 95% of students find work within six months of graduation which is amazing and promising for our futures.
Student Halls, each person has their own shower and toilet which they don't have to share which is good. We also have student village which is loads of homes nearby the university they rent out to us. Both options are great for a London based university. We also have the free student bus which drives to Halls which is part of the Brentford campus, the Ealing campus, Ealing Broadway and student village which is very convenient.
It depends on you really, if your a person who keeps their head down all day and studies hard then this university does offer a reasonable amount of help and resources that you will need. However if you also value your social life then I wouldn't pick this uni as the best one for it, as they don't have much to offer for students studying in campuses other than the main campus itself and I believe the university could do more.
The university can do more for the students who have to wait for a computer when the campus library is busy. More computers can be added to the library to help aid this as I believe there isn't enough for people on very busy days
Student support is available when ever needed and they take any issues addressed seriously
The student union is very helpful within this university, you can have one to one discussions if you have a problem or if think you have something that the university may be able help you with then they will listen and take anything you have to say seriously.
The university is five minutes away (10 minutes if your on the paragon campus) from Ealing Broadway which have many shops, restaurants, cafes as well as one of the university library's itself, which is useful for students so I think this university is situated in a good location
The university can offer more clubs and societies for some other interests students may have
The courses and lecturers are at a reasonable standard, although if the university could spend more on the tables and chairs then that would be better as currently i'm in a classroom where the table literally flips over the side of the chair and I have a small table to put my book on, I think the uni can do much better when it comes to spending. Other than that the lecturer's and teaching is reasonable.
The university has a 95% rate of employment within 6 months of graduating so you have a very high chance of getting into a job. The university also offers one to one advice when it comes to the topic of jobs.
Accommodation is available and is in good standards

Annie Sanger-Davis is the best course leader EVER!! If you can join this course
The best thing is that everyone is always very keen to help you and you never feel left alone. The worst thing is probably the distance from town.
