Good aspects: Knowledgeable professors, university looks good, they have good connections to other organisations and companies. Bad aspects: Can only think of one at the moment. Prayer room is inadequate for the number of muslims at the university. Also, what makes it more difficult is that only one person is allowed in the room at a time (maybe due to COVID restrictions, not sure) so we have to wait quite a while to finish and sometimes means we will miss a portion of our lessons.
The course is good and interesting. Some of the modules were harder than others but they are good to give us the foundational knowledge and skills for year 2 and beyond. We were taught in person which was excellent.
The student and career support is amazing. I’ve had support for every aspect in my life that can affect my studies. Love it!!! I honestly can’t say the worst thing about my university, loving every minute of it!
The tutors take time to know us and give personal support! No one is left out. The worst thing at the moment is it’s not very flexible in terms of class attendance. I was hoping we could have an online class due to the storm today. Travel time and stress was a lot today.
Overall, a good uni. You can have a personal relationship with lecturers since groups aren’t massive, and it is easier to access them in case of any questions or concerns. One downside is the options for accommodation. Since Paragon house closed the university has no student halls and only really provides students with the choice of student village or external accommodation halls. Personally I chose accommodation that is 10 minutes from the university’s main campus, but there are people having to live 20-30 minutes away by tube. I personally chose to join a sports society and that gives me quite a few options to socialize, but meeting new people is not difficult if you enjoy going out to the pub, or the student union bar. There are societies for everyone, including live sound and a radio station, as well as societies for those looking for a safe space such as LGBTQ+.
My course has been taught in-class and is only two days a week. At the moment I have one day where I’m at uni 9 - 6 with breaks in between and another where it is 3 - 6. The rest of the time you are expected to do independent study and work on assignments. During my foundation year I did experience online learning which was definitely not the best, but still acceptable considering the circumstances. Contact with lecturers is great, and so far they have been accessible and willing to help and support students.
Location is nice overall, it has a city atmosphere without the busyness of people everywhere. There are shopping malls, loads of restaurants and bars, and stores to meet most needs. One thing to keep in mind is that while the area is relatively safe, it’s not rare to hear about people being jumped or mugged, so just a reminder to stay safe at night. In terms of part-time work I believe there are many opportunities around considering the amount of restaurants and bars, and personally I found work within a month of moving into the area. The cost of living is quite high particularly if you choose to live in student halls, rooms start at around £200 and go up to £300 a week, so it’s quite a steep amount to pay for the amount of space you get. Aside from that, a decently sized flat can go for around £400 a week and if you split rent with a friend or partner it is a lot more manageable with you being able to pay as little as £600 a month. In terms of nightlife there is West Five in the Ealing area, a gay bar/club where some of the sports societies will occasionally go, and of course numerous pubs/bars. In terms of clubs, the main one is Pryzm in Kingston.
VERY MULTI-CULTURAL PROVIDE LOW INCOME STUDENT WITH GRANTS AND MONEY VERY FLEXIBLE OVER SICKNESS AND LATE HAND-INS FOR ESSAYS ETC. TEACHING IS FIFTH BEST IN COUNTRY AMAZING ACCOMMODATION NEAR UN AND IN HEART OF LONDON INSPIRES ALL STUDENTS INCLUDING DISABLED- SPECIAL ROOMS AND TECHNOLOGY FOR DISABLED. SHUTTLE BUS
INTERESTING INSPIRING FUN CHALLENGING A LITTLE LIFE-CHANGING IN BOTH WHAT YOU LEARN AND HOW IT AFFECTS THE WORLD-YOUR WORLD! MIX OF MATHS AND ENGLISH- SO I WOULD SAY ONE OF THE BEST SUBJECTS
Everything about this university is great except for some lecturers. Some lecturers do not have a good command of English making it difficult for students to understand clearly, have very little understanding of the topics or prefers one student over another. The evaluation provided by students should be taken seriously by university if they really want to improve. If they can provide some good teachers in their courses, this university can be one of the best in London. Students don't need highly educated sophisticated teacher, we just want someone who knows their stuff and can explain it to students in simple way.
Keep up the good work.
As described before my experience at UWL has been quite stressful and I didn’t find the support I was expected there. I think the University had pros but definitely more cons, there a very big issue with communication and organisation there that should be looked at and solved. Also I believe the University should be more careful about who they have teaching there as some lecturers clearly don’t want to teach, are never replying, degrading students and their “intellectual capacities” and even blackmailing students.
The facilities at UWL are relatively good, it is not a huge University therefore it isn’t to “scary” or formal it is quite relaxed. The area is a quite far from everything though.
As I described before I believe the student support at UWL is quite terrible.
I have been studying at UWL for my foundation year and was meant to stay for all four years of my degree but decided to transfer to a bigger University. I wouldn’t say it is the worst University, there are good things about it and I certainly gained some skills there. However, there was also a lot of issues there so in my opinion a lot more cons that pros. I understand that during the pandemic it has been quite difficult to run online glasses etc but there is a clear lack of organisation and communication there. I found myself having to chase people way too often to get simple informations that should be given to students without even having to ask. Or when you have an issue with something, people often don’t bother replying to you and when they do it’s often a case of no one knows the answer to your question. Some lecturers even tell you that they will be available for the next few weeks for this and that and end up going on unannounced holiday for weeks and when you ask apparently no one else is able to help which leads you to be stuck with your work. Don’t get me wrong, some lecturers were great teachers but again serious lack or organisation and communication with a lot of people there. I had an issue with one lecturer in particular that was constantly “degrading” people from my class and others and even did blackmail us about grades and also refused to release our grades for nearly a month if we didn’t attend a phone call with him to give good feedbacks about him since he was going through an internal audit… A lot of people in my class including I considered making a formal complaint about him. Even during the process of transferring to my new university I have had issues with UWL with people never replying to urgent emails etc and with this particular lecturer that wouldn’t release my final grade which nearly costed me my place at my new university. He also never replied to any of my emails sent between May and August to this day. Overall, I had a mixed experience at UWL, there are good things about this University, but to me there are more not so good ones, so if you have the option to go study somewhere else I would advise you to do so. It is quite a stressful environment if I’m being honest and some of the situations relayed above did affect my mental health quite a lot.

The HR department teachers made this uni amazing, they have supported me hands on for the past two final years at this uni.
very clean
round the clock support
I have been at university of west London since 2019 and completed my second and third year. because of the pandemic it was blended learning. in class and online. My course Tutor's were absolutely amazing whilst i was studying there. they were always available for me even if its on the Weekend. They always made sure I was meeting deadlines, there for round the clock support and always a helping hand. No matter what hours the tutor always helped us through difficult times and provided support. Special thanks to my teacher and tutor. Tutors helped me through my dissertation. I would recommend anyone that is wants to do a HR course to go to this uni. Simply because of the support you get which is second to none

The university has been a great experience despite lockdowns and COVID, although I wish the library was still accessible 24/7. Lecturers have helped any way they can and they are understanding to your circumstances. The university is very student oriented as they value the voice of students and want them to get the most out of our time there.
Very accessible but equipment hire is limited
Very helpful whenever needed
Great support and understanding

Coming to UWL has been the best decision I have ever made, I love my course I doesn’t feel like work because it’s so fun and hands on. The people are amazing, I have made friends for life and Ealing is a great area to live and work.
We have access to Ealing studios, lots of camera equipment and the whole Adobe software
Loads of help from all teachers and student support. I feel I could go to any of my lecturers for help about anything, uni work or personal issues.
We are in three to four days a week, for around 5 hour practical lessons.
