Law with Criminology - LLB (Hons)

The best parts of Sussex Uni can mainly be boiled down to the great sense of community I felt as soon as I started. As someone who used to be more introverted, living in halls in my foundation year allowed me to make new friendships and boosted my confidence to talk to students and teachers without feeling nervous. I love the teaching style on my course, and the campus itself feels very safe and like a mini (or not so mini!) community within Brighton and Hove. I still feel just as excited about my uni experience as I did back in September 2023. One thing I think the campus could benefit from is more colour and vibrancy, especially through the autumn/winter months. As this can be quite a difficult time, with mental health and economic issues rife, adding more light to campus would be a great benefit. It would also be great if the library remained open 24 hours a day as it was before - even if this was only on weekends/certain days of the week.

Everyone, from staff to students, are very welcoming making the experience of moving in and getting settled in a new place so much easier. You can easily reach out to anyone help, I arrived late and from a different country and with this being my first time in the UK I had a lot of adjusting to do and had to learn to find my way around campus and Brighton, I missed freshers week and the presentations and walk throughs, but as soon as arrived I was offered help by my course’s personal tutor with my course and what I missed. It was easier than I expected to make friends as well, most people are very willing to make new friends and to talk to new people. I am very aware that no institution is perfect or can ever be perfect, and if it is for one person it would be far from it to another, but I am very thankful for the experiences I’ve had up until now, the institution is big and full of opportunities every week, they host activities every now and then, there are many communities and societies to choose from including extra curricular activities, the teaching is very detailed and most of my modules offer either help desks, peer assisted learning or drop in sessions weekly. I really hope I manage to make the best of the opportunities given by the universities to make the most of my time here.

Best aspects of campus - the amount of food spots and spots for relaxation. Places to study- library, student centre, bramber house etc is great Worst aspects - Expensive food - coop, eat central etc Location and travel isn’t the best. More frequent buses. Campus accomodations - prices are too high and quality is too low. Reduce the prices.

I think the professors are all super supportive and the lecture content is really interesting. Campus has lots of activities and offers students opportunities to connect with others and find friends. The only thing that could be improved is the accessibility of campus eg there are lots of stairs in buildings.
