All lecturers are very friendly and helpful, will respond to emails very promptly, however some assignments need to be more clearly detailed on surreylearn as some are difficult to understand what is expected of us

Lovely halls, some things do break often or are unreliable but maintenance team is quick to respond and sort issues, however there are bushes outside the building meaning wasps keep entering our kitchen- not nice :(

Best aspect is the course content and lecturers, I like it overall.

It is interesting and engaging

The Math department has excellent passionate lecturers, they have lots of resources that make sure you are successful and are incredibly kind. They take feedback very well too.

Good WiFi (high download), good position near supermarkets, close to washing facilities. The only main issues are the rate at which you receive post that isn't from Amazon (they work short hours and not on weekends) so receiving post at peak times can be difficult.

Best aspects: Teachers are good, in most courses I can see how they will help me gain relevant knowledge for future careers. Most of the lecturers are interesting to listen to and put a good amount of information on the teaching slides to follow along with. The lecturers do help with assignments if you reach out as well. Im first year so cannot comment on career prospects or work and internships as I haven't gained any through the university. Worst aspects: one of the courses that was designed specifically to help us with 'mock work experience' did the complete opposite, 'Living Sociology' was a waste of time in my opinion and the only thing I gained from it was learning what kind of people I do not want to work with in the future- so maybe not a complete waste of time but the teaching content of the course was just dribble. Some of the lecturers are also really slow and monotone when they talk and overload their slides with lots of information making the lesson difficult to keep up with. The assignments given out can be close together and the lecturers will finish the topic one week before the assignment which gives very little time to complete the assignment.

Most like: Very safe, the campus security answer the phone immediately and the walk to manor park from university is well lit , not once have I felt unsafe. The rooms are spacious and the en-suites are ok. The facilities team can be quick to help with issues that you submit. The radiator works really well. Accommodation is close to laundrettes and despite being circuit laundry , are actually working and do a good job. I was incredibly lucky with my room and I have a lovely view of a field where every morning rabbits come out and graze, genuinely beautiful. Never had wifi issues. Dislikes: THE OVEN. The oven is awful, the kettle, the microwave everything in the kitchen is broken or breaking. The fridge is so cold ice is on the walls and the freezer is covered in ice shavings. there are doorbells on every flat and other people will just constantly press them - they are incredibly loud and serve 0 purpose outside of making the worst noise you, and all of your flatmates have heard. If flatmates are playing loud music you will be able to hear it in your room.

There have been isolated incidents of condescending attitudes from lecturers toward students.

Lab sessions are great, with up to date modern facilities. lecture halls are big but kept to a good standard. Coure content is engaing and interesting but can be alot to take in at time although, this is just the nature of the course

The cost of living is expensive, especially accommodation and housing fees. However the town feels very safe with good public transport links. Lots of part-time work opportunities; however, many places do not like to hire students. I managed to find employment due to the previous qualification and experience I gained before starting. The uni does offer several career events aimed to help you find a part time job if you need support.

The accommodation is quite expensive for what it is however, it is everywhere at the moment due to the cost of living. Internet has improved, was a bit patchy the first few weeks with some outages but have had no problems recently (it can be cinfusing to set up but once done it's sorted)

The majority of the course so far has been in person, which I enjoy. The course has been a little intense with the knowledge that we are learning there is still a good balance between contact ours and free time. Most of the lectures have been good although there has been a couple bad ones.

The room size is good, but the kitchen is very small for the number of people you are expected to share it with. Also, the rooms did not look like they had been cleaned at all since the last person had moved out and I moved in.

The lecturers are easy to find and contact whether you go to their office within their consulting hours or drop them an email and they reply pretty quickly. The lectures are taught by very knowledgeable people who break down each aspect of the topic well and provide problem sets to consolidate knowledge outside the lecture hall. However, the time to consolidate knowledge before the next lecture is quite short so if you miss classes due to circumstances catching up can be quite a nightmare so it’s important to always keep in contact with lecturers and keep on top of work.

The location is very good in terms of how easy it is to get to lectures as I can walk to every lecture on campus. The rooms are nice and spacious. However I don’t think I get value for money as I would want a more personal space to do everything as the total cost is around £6900 and there is a communal kitchen which is not bad but a personal kitchen would be preferred when paying such a large sum.
