The University offers amazing student support, and there is always a warm, welcoming feel. Some of the buildings could do with some work, and the classrooms need more electrical points. But these are not the most important things- I would recommend them to anyone
From a forensics and science perspective the facilities and equipment available are brilliant. Allows for a lot of opportunities. For improvement, possibly IT based. The uni mostly works with blackboard which can be iffy on the best of times, but that is my only critique.
Best aspects: -Great disability support and access to pastoral & wellbeing support. -Great experience with lecturers. -Excellent Resilife activities and Student Union. -Excellent access to public amenities.
It’s the perfect location which has all of the main necessities in walking distance plus a good student night life on and off campus. If you want to go into the city, it’s only 10 minutes on a train. If you’re an active person, there are plenty of walks, hiking trails in the mountains with awesome views over the campuses. There are also plenty of cycle trails and lots of options for extra curricular activities on the university campus. Student support is amazing through lecturers as well as additional support systems put in place such as the chaplaincy, unibuddy where you can talk to peers, library support and counseling if you need it. There are weekly activities to keep you social snd engaged outside of academic stress and there are two libraries on campus to suit your needs. Additionally between the campuses there are numerous options for food, including plenty of healthy options, vegan, and vegetarian. I really enjoy my time here

USW has helped me figure out exactly what I want to do within my career. The support from lecturers and the university as a whole have been outstanding! I have learnt so many new skills that will help me within my career and I can’t wait to see what the next few years will bring. USW is in the heart of Cardiff so there is a variety of different cafes, restaurants, bars, and shopping centres about! It’s great for student life and you get to meet so many new people from different cultures and backgrounds!
The environment is really friendly and inviting! The main lobby and library feel designed for conversation and make great places to work on collaborative projects, but still have quiet places to go for individual focus. The lecture rooms also are very relaxing and great to study and learn in.
The location is great for both studies but also night life. It's a vibrant city with so many different places to go to and things to do. It provides so many opportunities and the chance to meet like minded people, both studying and non. And the facilities available on campus are brilliant, with access to TV studios, broad ranges of kit and support wherever you are and whatever you do. It's a great university and I couldn't be happier than I chose to come to USW.
Lecturers are extremely supportive and there are numerous facilities that the university supports you with. More activities can be organised during non-lecture hours so that more people can attend.

Supportive lecturers and staff Many of them genuinely cared about students’ progress and were approachable when I needed help or clarification. That made a huge difference in my confidence and motivation.
I like my course. The facilities are good. The course itself is not bad. The location is a bit off however that gives tranquility and it feels peaceful here in Treforest.
All lecturers are super supportive and always try and find innovative ways to deliver lectures. The facilities are clean. Perfect location for me as a commuter. Not much experience of student life, but the students union always have something going on.

A wonderful university with a solid community feel. My tutors go above and beyond for each of us and support us with no end! The Glyntaf campus could do some some improvement - water foundations that are accessible, lifts that work, toilets need improving. But overall, the location is easy to get to and peafully planted amongst the welsh hills. I feel very content at this university and look forward to the years to come.

Very modern, has all amazing equipment and work areas. The cafeteria could be improve with more item being put out. They tend to run out of food options quite quickly
How small the classes are and the intimacy with the lecturers, the students union is very poor for nightlife

I think the University can do more in the way of organising more relatable and engaging social events. And i think they should also make available 24hrs library availability. Also, i have issues with the current design of the shuttle bus timetable (The first version when I was a 1st year was perfect and now it’s just very unaccommodating). I also think the design of the hub and it’s content is a bit too basic and the uni could definitely do better in terms of the game stations.
The lecturers and the facilities we have access to are top tier. And I appreciate the course being embedded with UEFA coaching badges as well. The partnership the uni has with the FAW also goes a long way in terms of access to guest lecturers and other opportunities.
In terms of casual employment opportunities, there isn’t a lot in the way of that. I’d say the location is quite safe. And access to transportation is not an issue. The only downside is that there aren’t a lot of action attractions here (Pontypridd/Treforest). I usually have to go to Cardiff to have any kind of fun.
I think the uni halls I stayed in were alright to be fair. I just don’t like where it’s located. And that’s something that obviously can’t be changed. I just hate that long walk up to the halls. Also, I hate the fact that the heating systems seem to be controlled by a central system. I’d like to be able to turn it on and off completely depending on how I feel. The other week, I was soaked in sweat because the room heater wouldn’t just go off. I ended up getting a heat rash. I did not appreciate that.
