Everything for my course has been online so not the practical experience I was expecting when I applied. However, the modules have been adapted a d delivered online - with industry relevant teaching.
Everything this year has been online
My course has been online but the campus is nice, clean and modern
Very good, I loved online lectures and no travel and still get to have personal conversations, a little bit too much money for what we are receiving however the degree in my case is still quite good in terms of learning new information about my topic, a lot of self study this year.
I haven’t yet been told about any job opportunities or roles in which I could go into straight from finishing uni, however I still have 1 year left so maybe this will be covered next year
My course it taught online due to covid whoever we have had some lessons in face to face. My lectures have been amazing and interesting this year and the support from my lecturers has been never ending.
The university is developing and updating constantly this is really good however some buildings and facilities are really dated such as the tech, furniture and decorations of the lecture rooms. Other extracurricular facilities are really good, such as football pitches, sports halls, gyms, library and on campus accommodation is perfect, very good for new students like myself who have come from abroad I felt very comfortable and safe there.
The support is good but hard to find.
It's been very enjoyable, obviously it would have been better if COVID hadn't happened as I feel like I've missed out on a lot of learning and the uni experience overall hut considering the circumstances it has been very good
Email us about career prospects/opportunities, allow us to get in contact with companies in the industry and professionals so we can get an insight into it all
Blended learning, mainly online. 10 teaching hours a week, 4 of which were in person
Very clean, modern, accessible. Have very good facilities
Good student union
I just obviously wish I was taught in class as I am really bad at learning from home. I can get easily distracted and become lazy when at home making me worse at deadlines for assignments and course work. However it’s still nice being on university campus even if we have not gone in it so it’s not been all terrible.
It’s hard to learn when there are so many things that go wrong. Also they go much quicker online than in class which makes it hard to learn
Overall, i would just avoid this uni at all costs please do not go there. If you do most likely you will suffer. Especially if you have mental illness, which is quite severe (eg really bad anxiety or depression etc), they’re not supportive at all. I can see enrollment of students is 18K however 2yrs ago it was 19K, so less students have been applying and more have dropped out. I would not recommend this university to anyone!!! The only good thing is the view of the campus. Thats it. And the career advisors and librarians and food service people. Thats about it.
The careers advisors are really lovely and literally just want to help you in your career goals. They are really passionate to help you. You can talk to them about anything even if its unrelated to careers and working, (if its affecting that etc). And they’ll try supporting you with that too eg mental health! They seem to be more empathetic than the actual wellbeing team !!!
The 2019 cohort was organised very poorly! Even staff on the programme commented on how poorly it was organised. Lack of communication, when you asked for help there were no replies given by tutors completel dismissed. They didnt seem to care or bother. Always rushing to get home and always rushing while teaching. All they want is their paycheck. May as well quit tbh.
Library is quite good can book rooms that you can study in by yourself and its quite big so lots of room. Lots of places to charge your phone and get your work done etc. They dont mind you eating your lunch or whatever in there either (although with coronavirus that has probably changed now!). The laptops you can loan. However most times the laptops are dead or something wrong takes 30 mins just to log on which is shambles.
When you first join they’re really nice etc and really want to help. When they notice you have eg severe mental health issues, they tell you that you’re a burden and you are overwhelming them! They just leave you to suffer in silence. They put you on waiting list which takes months. They don’t understand the impact of mental health. They tell you to stop making “excuses” and just go to lectures, they don’t understand that someone with anxiety, that anxiety can stop that person from even coming to university in the 1st place !!! They’re rubbish. I do not reccomend to anyone!!!!
Overall my experience in 2nd year has been challenging due to the covid pandemic. Teaching has been moved online, and on clinical placement there were alot more Covid19 patients in wards than non covid. However I did manage to develop my practical skills in clinical skills. Academic support was ok, and the content for assessments were a lot but doable.
Modules are taught online Monday-Friday and Clinical skills labs every Wednesday
I find it quite difficult at times to be motivated as it’s online and I feel like I work better knowing there is someone I can talk to without having to email them
We haven’t really been told about that yet
Online now we are back on campus twice a week.
Yes they are clean and accessible
They provide me with emails and if I need help to email them
If you are thinking of attending this university don't bother, even before the pandemic there was little to no help and support. During my final year my Dissertation supervisor left and didn't tell me and the university didn't bother to assign me a new supervisor so I've missed out on 3 months of work time emailing somebody for help that wasn't even there. I completely understand that the lecturers are struggling with the pandemic as well as students but there is absolutely no support available, you'll be lucky if you get an email back from lecturers in 2 weeks, by then the assignment you needed help on has been and gone. I got an unconditional offer and no wonder they give them out to everyone that applies, its a terrible university thats so desperate for students that they entice them in with unconditional offers and then leave the students to fend for themselves the whole time they're there. Save yourself the stress and don't waste your time at this University.
Slow year, mainly worked outside of course on other projects related to the my subject degree. Had a very promising and well-delivered start, but has stagnated since then.
Mainly through networking internally.
The contact time has been reduced with the pandemic and I wish that equipment access/communication was far clearer with a concise methodology established to reach the right lines in the fastest and most efficient way possible
The library services are outstanding, but the technical facilities has reduced and are a struggle during the pandemic. I.e; On-site access, virtual PC problems, technical support.
The mental health and wellbeing is as good as to be expected, not much to comment here.
I learn much better in person being in the classroom and although I have adapted i would have absorbed the material much better had it not been for the lockdown.
Blended learning. We are fully supported in all online teaching and resources are available online.
