Aerospace Engineering (with Foundation Year) - BEng (Hons)

University rating (5)

UCLan is a great place to study, with supportive lecturers, a diverse student community, and excellent facilities like the 24/7 library. The focus on employability through placements and workshops is a real highlight. However, the admin processes can sometimes be slow, and the campus layout could use clearer signage. Improving the variety of social activities and modernising some accommodation would also enhance the student experience. Overall, it’s a welcoming and affordable university that helps students prepare for their future.

Pharmacy - MPharm (Hons)

University rating (2)

I’m not sure about other courses, but as a pharmacy student, I would not recommend UCLan. Whilst the teaching is good, general life as a student can sometimes be a nightmare (feeling more like a prison - maybe little exaggerated). The requirements to pass can be ridiculous, and little to no consideration is taken of student situations. Students are turned away if not in a workshop at the hour (on the dot) A minute late will mean you may have travelled for no reason as you can’t attend, no matter the situation (traffic, accident, weather, illness). Further their are lessons that are “compulsory” and even if a student had missed one due to being extremely ill (hospital), death in the family etc they would have failed their portfolio hence needing to re-sit the portfolio or the year.

Mres Sustainability & Management

University rating (5)

Best Aspect: The sense of community at UCLan is absolutely wonderful. The campus is modern, with very good, up-to-date facilities ranging from extended libraries to student support services. The university also allows various opportunities for work experience, networking events, and careers advice. Generally, most of the staff are approachable and committed to offering support at an individual level when approached. This makes for a really vibrant student life, with plenty of societies and events. Worst Aspects:- Is there anything worst in UCLAN? I don't think so!

Personal Growth: University is a time to discover who you are, develop independence, and gain confidence in your abilities. It’s a chance to step out of your comfort zone and grow personally and academically. Lifelong Friendships: The connections you make during university—whether with classmates, roommates, or professors—often turn into lifelong friendships or valuable networks. Career Preparation: Whether through internships, career fairs, or hands-on learning, universities provide opportunities to build a strong foundation for your professional life.

Supports to students and facilities like library and classes are amazing while the university lacks proper job placement scheme for graduates. It would be better if university offers large number of job opportunities for its graduates.

The best thing is that everyone is always very keen to help you and you never feel left alone. The worst thing is probably the distance from town.
