Podiatry BSc (Hons)

It is difficult for me as an odler student to feel "part" of the establishment as almost everything is designed and intended for the inclusion of younger people. Also, being a commuter with a 70 mile round trip each day, it's not practicable for me to spend more time at the University outside of learning hours.

as per my experience these followings are my reviews 1. Diverse Course Offerings: The university offers a wide range of courses across various disciplines, allowing students to find programs that align with their interests and career goals. 2. Supportive Environment: Many students appreciate the supportive staff and faculty who are approachable and willing to help with academic and personal challenges. 3. Modern Facilities: The campus is equipped with modern facilities, including libraries, study spaces, and technology that enhance the learning experience. 4. Strong Industry Links: The university has good connections with local industries, providing students with opportunities for placements, internships, and networking. 5. Vibrant Student Life: Huddersfield has a lively student community with various clubs, societies, and events that foster a sense of belonging and engagement. 6. Location: Being in Huddersfield offers a balance of a friendly town atmosphere while being well-connected to larger cities like Leeds and Manchester for additional experiences. ### Suggestions for Improvement: 1. Expanded Facilities: While the facilities are modern, some students feel that more study spaces, especially during peak times, would be beneficial. 2. Enhanced Career Services: Improving career services to include more workshops, job fairs, and personalized career advice could help students prepare better for the job market. 3. More Diverse Activities: Increasing the variety of extracurricular activities and events could enhance student engagement and provide more opportunities for personal development. 4. Improved Communication: Streamlining communication between departments and students regarding important updates and opportunities could enhance the overall experience. 5. Sustainability Initiatives: Implementing more sustainable practices on campus, such as recycling programs and green spaces, could improve the university's environmental impact.

Nursing (Mental Health) BSc (Hons)

University rating (4)

Positives- the university has a lot of space where you can wonder around, the area is decent and clean, modern buildings, it is nice that there is a green area with a lake, really relaxing, the fact that there is student union and you can also hang around there , prayer room for Muslims shows that they are being considerate about different religions and needs, nice environment overall, the signs sometimes are a bit confusing when going from building to building is not so clear on the map but overall is good. Negatives- university support system needs to be improved, support is really poor when facing a difficulty in placements or with university work, it is good that they have extensions but most time no support is offered when requiring other things or facing other issues, it takes time especially if you are complaining about university being disorganised and changing things for you last minute, ni help can be offered. sometimes university is till disorganised about certain issues, and always last minute changes are made which are not convenient.

A focus on maintaining and upgrading older facilities would make the campus environment even more conducive to studying and overall student well-being.The university is very inclusive, with a strong focus on supporting students from all backgrounds. The student union is active, offering plenty of events and social opportunitiesThe university is known for its strong support system for students, from academic guidance to mental health services. The staff are generally approachable, and there are many resources available to help students succeed.

Worst - hard to access support at uni and is confusing. The way the uni treat the staff and students is awful, my course is being wiped out and we’ve barely got any tutors left to actually help us to get to graduation Best - I’m a part of the SU and I work there now on the front desk. I enjoy my job and it helps me to feel more involved in the university

The buildings are visually very stunning with lots of different emenitites. I did find lack of student support, hard to find the support or where you could go for this. Also I didn’t appreciate how I was made to feel like a child and penalised for not going to lectures for whatever reasons I have as an adult, it shouldn’t concern the lecturers if I’m there or not I’m not in secondary school or primary school. So yeah lack of independence really annoyed me.

Applied Computing (Top-Up) BSc (Hons)

University rating (5)

My university experience has been great, especially due to the vibrant societies and cultural events. I made good friends at an event, which made me feel part of a community. Additionally, the support I received from student finance was excellent, ensuring I could focus on my studies without financial stress. One of the best aspects is the variety of opportunities to get involved and meet new people. However, I think there could be more events or support for students who aren’t as actively involved in societies. Overall, it’s a great place to study and connect with others!

Best Aspects: The university offers a diverse range of academic programs and state-of-the-art facilities, which have genuinely enriched my learning experience. The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, and there are plenty of resources available to aid in academic success. The campus itself is vibrant, with a welcoming atmosphere that makes studying here enjoyable. Improvements Industry Connections: While there are some networking events, increasing the frequency and variety of these opportunities would be beneficial. More mentorship programs, career fairs, and industry partnerships could help students build valuable connections.
