I like that a lot of facilities are accessible 24/7. It doesn’t limit you to do work only during daytime

The best aspect for me was entering my course as it was something completely new to me and I found it very interesting. The worst aspect of my experience was trying to make new friends on campus

The library helps with my studying because of its opening hours, and my lecturers make uni stress feel lighter. I wish there were more things to do at the weekend as I have lectures all week, so it's hard to attend the weekly activities.
The university is great when providing entertainment, giving a wide spread of different ways to do so, some of the worst bits of the uni however would have to be the lengths you have to go to find your lecture/class rooms
My first year is going really slow. It's heavily focused on the fundamentals (which I actually don't mind) of computer science, but I really wish it was more directed towards computer games like I applied for. I also feel there aren't many special opportunities for our department, or at least not many that are advertised well as I haven't heard of any. There also aren't many affordable food places on campus, and all the stands are pretty bland in flavour and don't offer a lot of food for their price. I once brought in food and couldn't find a single microwave on campus despite asking around. I had to eat my food cold. There is also nothing interesting in Hythe/Wivenhoe activity wise. You have to travel away if you want something fun. Some of my modules were implemented so poorly. The Python module was easy as piss and if you did the Coding course they offer before coming to university then you already knew everything about that module. I did it in a week, they took a whole term for it. The lab sessions where done in less than 10 minutes despite having 2 hours allocated towards them and demanded attendance for the grade. Each lab only had three tasks each. One week one of those questions was wrong, and when I pointed it out to the lab staff, they just didn't understand. Truly a waste of time. There is another module about algorithms and data structures where they absolutely do not teach you everything in the lectures or classes. Each lab so many students are confused because there will be content that hadn't appeared and therefore not been taught on our tests. Another module for OOP was affected by strikes, and I was almost at risk of losing 8% of my module marks due the head of module striking and pupils not being able to do their assignments in person. The university is trimming away staff and departments budgets which I find despicable. The universities priority should be the university, yet they shut one of their campuses down and it's also affecting their only running one. The only thing I actually really like is their sports teams and the languages for all course which is actually in danger of leaving next year due to the previously stated budget cuts.

I think that you really do feel like part of the community at Essex and you make so many friends by joining societies and even just meeting people around campus. Also the campus is a great size that it doesn’t take too long to walk from one place to another, but it’s still big enough so that there’s enough space for everyone and enough things to do. Maybe one downside is that on the weekend, campus is really quiet so it would be nice to have more activities to do then
It’s a great campus overall, the lecturers are always available for any questions students have. The students societies and the SU provide many opportunities for sports and volunteering.
The lecturers are very supportive , peaceful and friendly people, the atmosphere is conducive for learning. It’s one of the best universities in Uk
Good oppurtunites to participte in activites relating to your course
The teaching courses of the University of Essex are very rich and have many choices, which can be matched according to your own interests. The campus facilities are also very complete, especially the printing, which relieves a lot of pressure on students. Faculty, staff and administrators are very friendly and will patiently answer various questions about life and study. But the course schedule is a little unreasonable. Most courses are scheduled at noon, so I don't have enough time for lunch.

Best is everything is inside the campus sometimes it can get expensive like the store on campus sometimes they turn of the heaters in the evening too early and rest every thing else is fine
Course wise every support you can get easily and they help you out
It’s pretty near to gym bus stop and lecture building and it’s quite old
