Sort:Latest reviewsthe uni is a really nice area with so much greenery, I would imagine it would be even nicer in the summer. We are experiencing a lot of strikes currently and potentially a lot more so I am missing out on a lot of learning and therefore struggling in some of my lessons.
Best- friends, bars, nights out, lectures Worst- nothing - enjoy being here so nothing bad - although strikes are having an impact on my education especially during exam season
There’s not many events that aren’t bar based or club related. And the best is just the general atmosphere of the uni
Everyone is so supportive and you feel a sense of community there. I moved from another university and Essex is everything I could want for the experience of university. Lecturers are so nice and dedicated to their students succeeding. The events and variety of them could be improved on as the social calendar can sometimes be lacking.
I would enjoy more student life and not just dedicated stalls on Thursdays
The community and facilities are great, the university truly cares about their student population and put effort into checking in on them.

Great teachers and facilities, as well as a beautiful park in the uni campus. However, students behavior on campus leaves a lot to be desired.
The best aspects of my uni experience has been the friends that I was able to make through the events put on at the bar and sub zero during freshers week. The worst part of my experience has been the loneliness due to the bad experience that I have personally had with my flatmates.
I lived in London for a year; it's a metropolis with more activities, but I feel safer here.
The course that I study at university (BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology) is not widely available at other universities in the country, which made me more interested in applying to Essex. As well as this, I am captain for the women’s 2nd volleyball team, and where I am local, I had admired the sport facilities that the university have for years, for example, watching games taking place in the Sports Arena. However, since being in my final year, I have faced an incredible amount of stress. I have felt completely unsupported by the university and I am very disappointed with their student support.

its a nice and cosy campus making it comfortable to live in but come along with some inconveniences like having to pay an expensive bus everytime to get to town and not having much around the campus itself. and also the fact that theres not much to do in the town in general.
as a person doing computer games, it felt like the course was not catered enough to actual game design or game development. there were a very small number of actual modules that taught game making in depth and overall felt like I was doing computer science with a minor in games.
