The various campuses across the city makes the uni accessible to people living all across the city including commuting students. Apart from this, it also allows for the student population to be dispersed evenly so that there isn't crowding at any one place.
Studying at the University of Chester has been a really rewarding experience overall. One of the best aspects is the strong sense of community. The university has a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where it’s easy to build relationships with both staff and fellow students. Lecturers are approachable and genuinely invested in helping students succeed, which makes a big difference academically and personally. The smaller class sizes compared to larger universities also mean you get more individual support and feedback. Another great aspect is the location. Chester is a beautiful, historic city with a safe and friendly feel. It’s big enough to have plenty going on socially, but small enough that everything is within walking distance. The balance between academic life and social life feels very manageable here. The opportunities outside of lectures are also a highlight. Whether it’s societies, volunteering, or charity work, there are lots of ways to get involved and build skills beyond your degree. The university encourages students to be active members of the community, which really enhances the overall experience. In terms of improvements, I am in queens park campus. Some facilities and buildings could benefit from further modernisation, as it in exton park campus.

Chester is a great small city that feels safe and welcoming as well as having a range of lovely shops, restaurants and cinemas to enjoy. To improve I believe courses should maintain their variety of modules and continue to have many options for their students
The best is when you get you're results and you've passed all the friends you make - we love to travel together and we like the long lunches where we can go into town as a group. The worst is the car park prices so overinflated and as a student I would expect a big discount.
Amazing course! Amazing lecturers! Wouldn't be where I am now without them. The coure is quite intense but the support makes it totally worth it and gave me the ability to complete.
My university experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The resources and support available have been outstanding, and I’ve always felt there was someone to turn to whenever I needed guidance. Studying counselling skills has been a fantastic choice, the content is genuinely engaging, and the way it’s delivered makes it easy to stay motivated and involved. The course has helped me grow academically by building my confidence in my studies, and personally by developing my self‑awareness, communication, and ability to support others.

Lovely location and good community, Awful first year accommodation
Well we had a £120 million campus but it went down. Otherwise the staff are great the course is great and we get the most out of our education.
Chester is a fantastic university with such a lovely atmosphere. The lecturing staff have all been amazing on my course with a special mention of the counselling skills lecturers who always go the extra mile and try to make our experience as students as enjoyable and accessible as possible. I went to another uni a couple of years ago and didn’t get on well there, the feel was completely different (not very warm/welcoming and the lecturers weren’t really interested in our wellbeing or making the lecturers engaging) - after my first experience I didn’t see myself trying university again, but Chester has completely changed things for me and I have made some great friends and have thrived on my course. Highly recommend :)
As my course was moved to Gateway in year 2, I have not had much experience at the main campus and would not choose to go there to study.

The University allowed me to gain an internship in a subject that I am hoping to study for the rest of my life with a company called 2Engage. It has been the best thing that has ever happened to me and the experience has already given me so many vital and important skills. The Careers Team have been nothing short of so helpful!
The best aspects of my course are the discussions we have- I also love my lecturers and the relationship I have with them is so great
The University Halls can at be times be isolating. In the first semester, I was very lonely and my mental health thus took a drop. Because I don't share a kitchen, I really had to work to meet people and that meant that the first few weeks were incredibly tough. There needs to be more done to improve student welfare on the campus and this is something I feel so strongly about.
