Good individual attention for post graduate students. Although many are distance and provision to conncet with them outside of lecture time is under develoed for the amount of students. I would recommend the university.

I applied for accomodation and didn't get it, the university is very bad for accomodation. I am from bath and should have been a priority over people more local to chester. I didn't come through clearing either. I am part of Pole fitness society and I am a cheer leader which is amazing. I'd advise you to get involved with a society. They course gives you good contacts for future jobs.

I wouldn't recommend coming here for 9k a year for an MA - but as I came here for an UG I get a good discount/ I'd go to a redbrick for that price. It is a nice small campus - which I like.

Mathematics BSc (Hons)

Overall I was very disappointed with my experience of Chester University, having spent three years there studying for a BSc in Mathematics. The quality of teaching and lectures was too variable: some lecturers made the work interesting and relevant, gave clear explanations and were very approachable, but there was one who was rude, obstructive and totally insensitive to the needs of the students. He delivered lifeless and uninspiring lectures which often resulted in students falling asleep! Feedback on assignments was slow and some tutors' comments were vague, giving me no advice on how to improve. Library facilities were scarce at best, with a limited supply of course texts and computers to cater for everyone, Most computers were very slow, faulty and too many were out of order. However the staff were reasonably friendly and helpful. I lived at home for the duration of my degree, so it wouldn't be appropriate to comment on accommodation. Quite frankly, almost all aspects of the university fell far below my expectations.

Mathematics MSc

Studied for a BSc in Mathematics followed by an MSc in the same subject, but had to terminate my MSc due to illness and deteriorating standards in the department towards the end.Frankly I was very disappointed with my overall experience at Chester. The qualiry of teaching in the department was variable. Some lecturers were brilliant, making their modules relevant and interesting, giving clear explanations and always going out of their way to help; but others were absolutely appalling, including one who was rude, obstructive and totally insensitive to the needs of the students-people would often fall asleep in his lectures as they were so boring and lifeless! Feedback on assignments was slow and vague-sometimes we could be waiting for months to receive it and rarely was I given advice on how to improve. Feedback and complaints were never dealt with appropriately. Library facilities were disorganised and unsatisfactory. Computers were scarce, there was a limited supply of texts for my course and I would often be sent on a ' wild goose chase' just to borrow a book! However the staff were friendly and approachable. The university had a policy for charging for printing/photocopying work-these were exorbitant at 5 pence per sheet and put an unnecessary strain upon students' already spurious finances. Overall my experience fell far below my expectations and the course represented atrocious value for money.

Wildlife Conservation MSc

Lectures often cancelled at late or no notice. Marking assignments takes months and no feedback given. Disorganised and inconsistent. Assignments set too late in the year with little support. Internal complaints procedure not followed due to poor staffing levels. Modules withdrawn due to poor staffing levels. Feels like they are just after your money. Library search via VLE doesn't always work.
