The annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) highlight the incredible work carried out by institutions for their students. Due to Covid restrictions, this year’s awards were not collected on uni campuses as usual, but instead based on submissions from institutions, which were then judged by our special student panel.
2021 WUSCA winners
My experience was good at this moment. However, more cultural or school activities should be provided to help students enrich their university life. More opportunities should be provided for students to communicate/meet students from other subjects.
offers a lot of career fair and guest talks during lessons
most: the teaching mode, tutorial and practical sessions are offered after lectures on the same day; lecturers are professional and willing to answer questions least: tight schedule, heavy workload (but it's normal for physio corse all around the world)
Basic facilities are included but more can be provided
Depends, library is a bit far
Goodd. i am an international student and there are many activities offered by the international student support team tutors are professional and willing to answer questions and provide help
A cozy and diverse space. With professionals prepared and willing to help you. With people from all over the world, each with its history and longings. Guided to the future. Very well prepared for all your needs and dreams
With help to find and apply for job opportunities. In addition to offering lectures and small courses in order to improve and create skills and in order to serve as a tutorial and encouragement
The distance between the university and the accomodation is minimal as the accomodation is within the campus next to the main buildings. And with a good variety of local amenities nearby or just minutes away
The University of Bradford receives, in large quantities, students from all over the world. Creating a multidiverse space rich in experience. Therefore, it has societies that grew because of this experience or to supply it. It also has a great film society. The same goes for sports and counting, in addition, with a gym within campus
My experience is very nice. I met a lot of new people with big motivation. We inspire each other. I had some great professors and a bunch of new knowledge and skills, that I can use over and over again.
The university has a career canter, that can help you with your CV, help you to prepare for your job interview and find a nice internship. Career centre can also help with exchange program, that will increase your chances to get a job.
I like the strict structure, so at the very beginning you can understand what you will study and when you have all the deadlines. However, the quality is still depends on the professor and sometimes you get too much hours of lecture and less hours of labs, that does not give you enough time to try everything and remember it better.
Students' Union provides a lot of free activities such as Hikes and language classes (students to students). I also enjoy students bar events, that take place in there.
In total the facilities are nice. The sport hall and all the equipment are in a good condition. With the membership you get an access to a lot of facilities e.g, the squash court, even out of the squash session. Through the library I can get the access to the variety of resources and books. The library itself has a nice view form the window and separated on silent and loud zones, which make it useful for individual and team work. Canteen always offer some vegetarian dishes. Toilets are clean. There is a drinkable water to fill up your bottle in a lot of places in the University buildings.
The distance to the accommodation is tiny (less than 3 min walk), however there is no big grocery store close to this location (such as Lidl or Morisons). The closest one is Foodwarehous, that does not provide the big choice of food and still located pretty far away.
There is a big number of sport clubs, I find it enough for me. I did not find any volunteering movement
For Final Year Project the tutor give the feedback every week according to what you have done during this time. According to other classes, the feedback is given during lab sessions. I did not use any personal support.
My university experience has been amazing. I have fit in well due to the amount of support I have received from the university. The university has many facilities such as mental health support for those that have difficulties fitting into the environment. The staff is also amazing.
This university provides students with not only the appropriate knowledge for your course but provides you with the working skills required that employers now look for. This university is also rated for 10% higher salaries compared to bigger competitive universities for my course- during the first graduate year of working
I like the team-based learning sessions that the university offers for my course which develops a lot of skills and relationship between the students and staff. Overall, I couldn't think of anything that I don't like with the way I am taught.
Wide variety of representation and great facilities.
The university is in a perfect location! It is surrounded by local general stores which are great for accessibility. There are also a lot of different accommodating delicious restaurants and takeaways surrounding the university. It is also not far from the train/ bus station.
There are numerous activities and sports that accommodate all needs one could think of.
The support is amazing, the unit leaders and tutors are always on board to help.
It's been good! Lots to be involved in. It's a diverse environment with opportunities offered. Facilities within uni are good and life outside uni is ok and transport is sufficient
It has careers and employability service which allows students to make appointments with advisors to help with CVs, interview tips etc.
The theory and practical are taught side by side rather than learning theory first followed by doing the practical. It makes concepts easier to grasp. However, not as many seminars and tutorials considering the difficulty of the course and more students
Yes- Next door to the university and 5-10 mins walk from town
The majority of the support is good, especially from tutors and feedback from lecturers. However, there is usually a wait for counseling
My university experience has been great overall so far. All the staff have been helpful and informative, the services and facilities are great for every student, and the eco friendly campus is amazing.
They always encourage us to be the best nurses that we can be and use their experiences to guide us
I like when we have more intimate groups so that the group is focused and goal orientated. I dislike that they sometimes mix groups e.g. nursing with biology because sometimes there are a lot of people within the class that can distract others
The student union is very helpful and informative for all students, no matter how far into their degree they are
The location of university is perfect, a quick walk from the train station and is accessible via the bus to. Plenty of shops around the campus area too!
All the tutors are very friendly and encouraging when it comes to support and feedback
It is very pleasant, learnt a lot of know ledges here and met a lot of people. But just that so far, i have not met any close related friends yet. If you come to university, don't waste your time handing with the ones that do not respect you or the ones who does not think you are important. Because you DO deserve to be treated nicely and treasured.
we do have a disability and employment centre that is very helpful. there is a website for job opportunities as well, but the job variety can be more.
I like it that it is practical base so that I dont have to attend many lectures. However, I do not like handing in assignments and doing presentations
I do notice that they exist, but i am just not aware of any activities or events that they hold that suites a lot of peopole.
My faculty, health studies, has a quite brand new and modern facility, however, in almost half of the teaching buildings that they are so old that I feel like the ceiling is going to fall on my head at any point.
Sure it is , it is only 5 minutes walk away from lecture rooms and 15 minutes walk away from the city centre
It has a quite large variety, but the promotions and time slots are not in that much variety.
We have all kinds of services, but it is down to weather students use it or not.
Very good, the fact that is just 18 hours a week gives you some freedom to do a lot of things, and also the freedom is palpable because of you are not really obligated to atend, you do it because you care about your future.
There is workshops, and a finding jobs service available.
What i like the most is that all the information is available online. What i like the least is that the timetabling service is quite bad, it is very easy to give us a day off, and also there is a lot of nonsense changes sometimes.
Yes, it is a five minute walk to university.
There is a lot, although i am not signed to no one because i do not have time.
Quite good, they assign you a tutor, and also you can speak to any teacher as they are very friendly.
It's fine still needs improvement. I get a good career and network plus experience of living abroad and to explore the different cultures and races. There ideas, thought
The skills department Is active and tries it best for people to get job
More practical course should be developed with placements.
Needs improvement a lot, not active as they should be. Overall in short
They are Ok
Yes, 5 min!!!
Sufficient for me
It's ok, but depends on the Tutors approach
Since I am a foreign student, I was afraid when I first arrived, because I did not know will I fit in, will the cultural differences be too much for me, or will I be able to managed the Uni and the assessments. But now I am on my final year, and I can honestly tell that this was the best decision in my life. I regret nothing.
There is a Career and Employability Services where you can get help regarding writing CV and how to prepare yourself for the interview. Also every week they post on Facebook a list of vacancies available to the students.
I like the most that there are lots of labs, and lectures are interactive, which I believe encourages students to learn and enjoy more in their courses.
Students' Union is really great. They have always been helpful with the problems I had.
In my opinion they are great. Never had any complaints against them.
Everything is in the short walking distance. No need for public transport.
There is so many different sports and society to choose from. I think there is really something for everyone
I have never tried counselling, but I know there are options available for students who needs them. Regarding the academic support, my personal tutor was always really helpful regarding any problem that I have and it really helps me talking to her.
