We had a fantastic Canadian lecturer who is very knowledgeable in special education, and really engaged the whole class in discussion. The research supervisor was fantastic and was relatable working within further education and gave brilliant guidance during the final year. Our other lecturer was a bit hit and miss. Legally ,we shouldve had 20 hours of contact a week and only got 4 1/2 a week, certainly not worth the full whack of fees. During the final year, the research unit was poorly delivered and did not offer anything practical to help us with data analysis, coding , transcription of interviews, working out coefficients in action research. This is something that should not have been disregarded. There were no practical sessions or log book of hours usually part of teacher training esp when applying for EHC assessments EHC plans and accessing funding. This hasn't really taught any of us additional employability skills to work in our sector . Inclusion isnt great and were witness to one incident towards a peer where she was reprimanded for attending lesson, driving 60 mile round trip to attend lesson was exhausted and found it hard to focus in lesson. it later transpired they had been diagnosed with long covid . There was a lack of compassion towards their effort to attend and not miss a session.

Best was the conference on SEND and 2 tutors , one from Canada and the other at an FE college. Worst: The other tutor was not compassionate towards myself, recovering from long covid, I fell asleep in one lesson. Out of all lessons I attended from Sept to June, and they insisted what I did was bad behaviour, despite a formal diagnosis after my 4th bout of COVID-19, an apology and reassurance that falling asleep wasn't a reflection upon their teaching or course content, I was struggling with extreme fatigue and heart issues. I've worked in education 12 years and 7 years in healthcare. A student falling asleep or having behaviour out of character is a safeguarding concern , not a disciplinary matter. No apology was given over their conduct towards me, as they felt it was necessary to subject me to such behaviour , as there had been complaints made by other students about this lecturers conduct. As a mature student and a parent of a disabled child, I expected more understanding and compassion from a uni that states they are inclusive .
Totally dissatisfied especially with the student support never offered or advised me properly regarding to maintenance loan they kept saying that I am not entitled to. They sanctioned me from studies because I own two month rent to an accommodation with inappropriate situations and permanently closed. I have paid almost 18000 for the course i was studying and received nil support. I have sent them couple of emails asking them to transfer my credits to an other University however they are keep ignoring my emails. Unacceptable, unprofessional service who do not care their students welfare.

At Bedfordshire we have a vibrant and cosmopolitan student population that includes around 20,000 students from over 100 countries. We are a modern university that believes in nurturing our students to become educated, employable and entrepreneurial global citizens.
Contact time with tutors could be better but overall a good experience for my first year. University facilities are good. Local area in general isn't great. But really enjoying my course so far.
I hope by writing this review I can save someone from making the same mistake as I did. If you decide to take an artsy degree you might have a good time but the organisation and miscommunication of this university will tire you out and effect your grades. Working at Luton Dunstable University Hospital was the biggest mistake of my life.
I shall be transferring away from this university at the end of this year. I would suggest looking at other universities if you have the choice. All my friends at uni are moving away from this uni, particularly the mature students, like I am. At the end of every day you spend there you feel like the life and soul has been sucked out of you. I started off by getting involved with as many clubs/societies as I could and realised after no time at all that they just don't function and that everyone suffers from some kind of malaise at the university. It doesn't matter how much you try and smile and participate, no-one else does, so you end up wondering why you bother. The younger students talk throughout lectures and are only interested in their mobile phones and maybe because of this the lecturers have lost the will to be engaged with the students. Whatever, the experience is particularly sad and unpleasant and considering the amount of money I've borrowed to go to uni as a mature student, I cannot reconcile myself to sticking it out. There are one or two fabulous lecturers and tutors who try so hard and who I'd choose to be taught by, but they are in the minimum, I'm afraid. Which is a great shame.
The lecturers are excellent and are here to help you achieve your best and most will answer your queries promptly... library staff is very helpful and i would recommend anyone to apply here.
I feel standards are pretty much high and consequently this means such high expectations for us students. Attendance in class is regularly monitored with the view to ensuring utmost attendance of lecture on offer. There is a zero tolerance approach to lateness of any form: be it to class or exams. University facilities are adequate and there is an active student union presence with the university There is equally ample (with on going provisions for more) within the area.
I am enjoying and having a good time at the uni. Excellent academic staff giving us real world insights and helping us learn new things everyday - they are helpful not only within the teaching hours but even outside of it. The city is small and navigable and it's a great place to learn
Although it is not one of the most glamorous universities, what the University of Bedfordshire lacks in looks it more than makes up for in support and teaching quality.
I'm very impressed the the uni. I have good prospects and the lecturers and lectures are very good and informative. The sites I attend vary but they are all easy to get too and very clean and welcoming.
Overall the uni facilities are okay for any course other than Nursing. I'm studying Adult Nursing but the general feel from all nursing students in my cohort is that we all hate our uni. The nursing campus is separate on the outskirts of Luton. The lectures are often sick for weeks on end, many at one time, then return after also having a holiday and bragging about it. Not once have my cohort received feedback for any of our work in the 15 working day rule due to unforeseen circumstances every time, yet the designated lectures to mark that work say how much Christmas shopping they got online in their office that morning!Many of us feel we got treated more like adults in primary school, they belittle students a lot. We have all been told we are going to become the worse nurses ever, yet the lectures hardly ever turn up to lecture on time. At least once a month a lecturer just don't turn up and then we get a half hearted apology about a communication error, when surely communication is vital in nursing. The lectures do a great job about making you feel rubbish about yourself and lose enthusiasm in nursing. I want nothing else to become a nurse but even these lectures have pushed me to the limits!I would advise anybody wishing to become a nurse not to train at the University of Bedfordshire, if I'd of known it was going to be like this I would have uprooted my family away from family and friends to go elsewhere for a far better education. I am concerned that if I manage to qualify that I'm going to be the worst uneducated nurse ever no matter how much extra studying I put in. Also on another point the nursing teaching rooms do not even have heating in. Be prepared to take a blanket throughout the winter months to try and reach bearable coldness.

I was in the Bedford campus and the student life was limited. This was because many people travelled into uni from their homes. The student union was great at providing activities in the afternoons/ evenings. They also support students. all you have to do is email them or go to social events.
best: staff are amazing. they are supportive and they know what they are doings worst: placement: lots of paperwork but staff can support you
The accommodation is great.
