Lots of society activities. The location feels very campusy and quiet even though it is in the city. Academic. To improve, maybe more group study spaces. Also lecturers tend to strike a lot impacting the ability to complete work. Also as a commuter, more could be done

Economics - BSc (Econ) (Hons)

UCL is in an amazing location. I've taken a few classes in the Bioscience department and they have great professors. The campus has an interesting history. My main course of study is Economics. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT ATTENDING UCL. The main issue is because of the administration. There was an administrative error in my Visa information that put a block on my account that prevented me from enrolling and registering for classes. I emailed my tutor and she didn't help. I emailed the department in charge of visa information. They didn't help. I emailed my department. No one helped. I spent weeks emailing, trying to find SOMEONE who can help me simply enrol and be in classes. It was horribly stressful. It was nearly a MONTH into the semester before I was able to be in all my classes: my classes of last choice because all my options filled up in the meantime. Then I was behind in all my modules the entire time. Then, due to changes with COVID, when I went home, I had housing instability during my exam window. I applied for extenuating circumstances and they did not get back to me before the exam date, so I was very stressed and had to take my exams from a hotel. The administration of this school is so unorganized. You wont have time to be stressed about your courses, you'll be too stressed about the administration. They don't care. They don't help. You will fail your classes because of the administration, even if you're a very bright student otherwise. Don't go here for Economics, go to LSE, I've heard great things. The biosciences department at UCL is actually quite organized and helpful. Just AVOID taking economics here AT ALL COSTS. It will cost your mental health and thousands of pounds. I want my money and time back. UCL is horrible.

I had a fantastic time. I really do miss this masters program. The staff were lovely, my course mates were too. The work was very challenging and although I don’t miss those late library sessions I think it made me a much more stronger and capable engineer.

There were a few issues with online teaching and how the program was adapted to accommodate for the online material and teaching style. Also a bit issue arose with the lack of lab work as that is crucial for our education in this field. However, slowly things got better as everyone became more experienced with online teaching and by the end of the year things went smoothly. Even small seminars worked well with people being eager to participate

My iBSc in particular this year has navigated the pandemic incredibly well and offered the best support I have received at university so far. Prior years were a bit less personal just because the course size is so big.

1) Online teaching has been an unpleasant experience to me personally. It is not the fault of the lecturers, although some lecturers are disorganised when adjusting to online teaching. While I liked the flexibility of online teaching and mix of teaching styles, there is a lack of social interaction as there are not enough efforts to facilitate stimulating intellectual discussion and people don’t talk or put their cameras on during live sessions, making me feel disconnected. There are also few group work / interactive activities outside of online classes. I do not feel adequately intellectually/ academically engaged on most classes. Language classes taken outside my department are the worst as it’s simply not at all like the in person experience. 2) The university has not given us a satisfactory safety net. Having 5 self certified extenuating circumstances (to get 2 week extensions / defer exams to late summer) is useful but limited because it’s simply not fair that we are expected to perform to (and be graded at) the standards of past cohorts when we have had a different teaching experience and have been going through a pandemic. Mental health is poor and not all students can properly access online learning. 3) It is upsetting that international students do not get any reduced fees.

The best thing is that everyone is always very keen to help you and you never feel left alone. The worst thing is probably the distance from town.
