It's pretty fun. Nights out in London are definitely better than my small town home.Try to get involved in as much as you can at the start in order to make friends.

I would recommend my course to prospective students but I wouldn't recommend other parts of my experience.City life in London is expensive.

Biomedical Sciences

I really hated my time here at this university. I did Biomedical Sciences. I had few problems with the course itself, the lectures were too fast, unclear too and labs pretty much every single day, so at about 8pm you go home. I didn't like the people in the course either it filled with foreigners, as a British person, i felt sooo left out amongst hordes of Chinese and eastern Europeans. Only 2 british people in my course! My biggest disappointment was accommodation. It was horrendous. Obviously as a student who has worked very hard and stressfully for A-levels, we would be expecting UCL (being the 4th best university in the world..) to provide us with decent accommodation. However i was thoroughly disappointed with both your accommodation and the accommodation staff at their office. I initially applied for a single ensuite room, and recieved the complete opposite thing; a non-ensuite twin room. They just dont bother looking up at anyone's applications. The long winded application is a complete waste of time, as we students have to spend a good few hours of revision time to fill in this useless application. I was at Max rayne house and it was a dreadful experience there. The buses outside DO NOT STOP in the mornings, so even if we step outside at 7am for 9am lectures, theres just no point in waiting for a bus. Its awfully far away; they expect everyone to walk there and back. To walk there it takes 45mins, and is such a long walk. Also, the bins in the kitchens do not get emptied regularly.People at ucl socialise by going to different events by going together with their flatmates in their corridors. If you have a bad corridor or live in private accom, you wont have a social life. And in a big city like London, its gets real tough, REALLY fast.

Psychology and Language Sciences

The courses are usually taught by people who are leading in the relative field and the access to reading material is amazing. The atmosphere around the university is always good and its so central. There are a lot of different opportunities to do extra curricular stuff within your department as well as trying something completely different. The university halls vary from one to another so its worth researching them or asking people you know before applying. Having said all that, its not a campus so if you're looking for that campus-y vibe, its probably not the place for you.
