Biomedical Sciences

UCL is great- the teachers are thorough and clear, the facilities are extensive and the student union organises many activities. However, since COVID the lack of face to face teaching has made the year a lot more difficult. I’ve felt isolated from peers on my course and like I’m pretty much teaching myself the degree. I only have to go to campus for lab practicals which probably works out 3 times a term.

History - BA (Hons)

University rating (3)

As a Northerner, I don't tend to enjoy my time in London/the south, however the uni itself is very good. Teaching and support is very good and so far tutors have been very understanding. The history course has such a wide variety of modules and plenty of chance to follow a subject of your choice. I myself don't really like going out but there are so many club venues that you'll never have any issues if you do fancy a night out. The SU can be a little slow with getting information out, however we hope that will change with the next committee. However societies here are amazing, I don't have my h experience with cultural/sports societies but those within the Niche Societies Network (such as Pokémon, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, anime, etc. Are very welcoming and have a huge range of events.

I love everything at UCL. I feel like it’s a great university and my student experience has been awesome apart from covid-related reasons. The campus is safe and spacious. Prices at the refectory and other uni cafes/bars are very good.

Mathematics and Physics - MSci (Hons)

University rating (2)

The best part is that it is one of the top ten universities in the world. The worst part is that they don't really teach you much of the stuff they examine you on, so you are expected to do a lot of independent work that you aren't informed about. They don't even care much about student wellbeing and that just makes it a very stressful environment to be in. Overall I would not recommend anyone to come to UCL if they want to have a healthy university experience since with all the work that you have to do you will be overwhelmed all the time and not enjoy university life at all.

Physics - MSci (Hons)

University rating (4)

The best aspect is being part of such a big and helpful community. The worst aspect is not having that many in person lectures and tutorials due to Covid which sometimes makes me feel disconnected from the uni life.

The best thing is that everyone is always very keen to help you and you never feel left alone. The worst thing is probably the distance from town.
