Overall experience was difficult because everything went online and I was difficult it was hard because it was not easy to access tutors support online all the time.
The online teaching was great however, it was a big disadvantage for student who has difficulties accessing online and missed the tutor face to face teaching.
University very clean and premises student had had the ability to borrow laptop and books.
The university has great facilities to help the students on site however these services became hard to access because due to covid everything went online which made hard for some students.
It was my first year and it went very well. The teaching method was online classes by teams and everything was delivered very well. There is a lot of access to information such as the online library which was very helpful and useful for my assessments.
Online. the teaching hours were about 14 hours weekly.
My experience at UCEN has been very influential on my life as an aspiri g actor and have achieved new heights in how i can progress my career further. One thing i found useful was how much the staff care about you and how helpful they are and understanding of how much my personal life can impede on my studying and that they trusted me to put the work in.
I feel so proud to be part of UCEN Manchester and gain my degree from such an amazing university. UCEN's slogan is 'Find your future' and I truly believe that I have found my future. I have gained so much knowledge, skills and confidence by studying at UCEN. The support from tutors has helped me achieve my dream of becoming a teacher. I would recommend UCEN to anyone.
The careers team are really helpful and have helped me discover my future job.
The lessons are well organised both on campus and online. The tutors are really supportive and always there to help.
All the resources are available on campus and online. The library resources are really helpful and the campus is clean and equipment's are consistently cleaned.
The tutors are really supportive with mental health. If there is any personal issue I can dicuss with my tutors and student engagement team members who are always there to listen.
its been a wonderful experience. the overall experience taught me alot of new things and made me a confident person overall. i always wanted to do something in IT and i learned so muuch in my foundation degree. the degree taught me alot or things from how to carry out research to write a good report on the given topic. This experience has also motivated me to move further in the education.
its top notch
one of the best
Due to covid it had been extremely difficult and a lot different to what we had all imagined. The training that we have had in person is invaluable. That’s why it is such a shame that the online equivalent fell short.
The tutors are guiding us into our third year well!
The tutors and teachers are incredible with how much has hon one this year. From online dance classes too full time over the past few weeks, the teachers are really what carried us through second year. Overall, the contact time had been reduced this year due to covid.
The lack of bigger rooms in the building has majorly limited what we can do. Overall cleanliness of the building has fallen short at times.
This is something I have been pushing for over the past few years. The lack of accessibility to these facilities is upsetting as I know a lot of people have reached out with no result. However the tutors have been amazing!
Overall I’m starting to regret university as it has a serious effect on my mental health and it has made me Deteriorate. Some staff do want the best for you. But it’s the staff who are not even your tutors. My tutors do not care and it is painfully obvious to them that you are suffering. They needs to be training with mental health. A reliable support system. Tutors not making you feel threatened, And they need to stop allowing people to get bullied.
I do not know as I am not in my third year yet .
Do not support people with mental health problems, leave students in the darkness and expect them to succeed under extreme pressure and don’t grade the modules fairly. Also do not support people who have learning disabilities, I should be giving dyslexia support and still after after for 2 years UCEN Manchester have not help or provided me with support.
The building at the Arden school of theatre is amazing. Big rooms, wide spaces and has all we need a more.
This is something you need to look into and make sure you have people who actually want to help and not fob you off. When you have Proof from the mental health team at the hospital and still they alienate you to believe that it is your fault. I know in my class at least 2 people who have tried to hurt themselves over tutors not being understanding.
If it wasn’t for Covid, I know this year would have been amazing because the teachers have so much faith in us. Just wish we had more time with them. They have worked extremely hard but because this is a performance course, it’s hard to continue learning with social distancing, and zoom classes. Sometimes I feel like I’m on summer holiday because we’ve not been contacted and we have nothing to do. A lack of communication can sometimes be an issue.
They are very helpful and check out any agents who contact us and tell us straight whether they will be good for us.
Teaching hours have gone down dramatically to the point where we’re lucky to see the teachers twice a week. They are extremely understanding of the situation and with some Covid outbreaks, there is nothing more they can do. It is hard to be expected to do the same amount of work as previous years despite less contact time.
As a drama school, you’d want to be separate from the college next door but we don’t have a separate canteen and the college students can be rude.
The teachers are amazing when it comes to if you are struggling however its been so hard to get help from others. My mental health got worse very quickly due to deadlines and I had no idea where to get help from.
It has been an amazing experience as the support we get from teachers is amazing and the learning environment is lovely. We’re pushed to reach new targets and goals and achieve new things everyday from being given opportunities to try things you wouldn’t of been able to try before.
UCEN Manchester has coped really well with the pandemic and the changing of the rules as we still had the same amount of contact hours during the week whilst using a blend of online and in class learning to make sure that we were able to reach all our targets and to experience the course to the fullest.
We’re are provided with the equipment we need for classes and the facilities are to a high standard.
Overall the one to one support in general is pretty good as the teachers check up on you and also there are facilities within the college for people to contact who maybe struggling.
I think my overall experience was very enjoyable apart from the obvious year out due to COVID. The Arden has helped me to become the best performer I could be and have taught me a lot over the 3 years. I feel going forward that there should be more opportunities for students to perform in front of audiences that aren’t just from the university.
