It's a great university, the support team are really great.
Although I am not aware my fellow students said it's good
As it is the one of the best university in Uk. Swansea University offers diverse a wide variety of academic programs for students to choose from. State-of-the-art facilities - The university has modern, well-equipped classrooms and laboratory facilities, which enhance students' learning experiences. Beautiful campus - Swansea University is located on a beautiful coastal campus, providing students with stunning views and a vibrant student community. Active student life - The university has a thriving student community, with a range of clubs and societies for students to get involved in. Good career prospects - Swansea University graduates are well-regarded by employers, and many go on to successful careers in their chosen fields. Worst Aspects: High living costs - Swansea can be an expensive city to live in, and this can be a challenge for students on a budget. Large class sizes - Some courses at Swansea University have large class sizes, which can make it difficult for students to get one-on-one attention from their professors. Limited off-campus housing options - The university does not have a lot of off-campus housing options for students, which can be a challenge for those who prefer to live off campus. Parking difficulties - Parking can be a challenge on the Swansea campus, and finding a parking spot can sometimes be difficult, especially during peak times. Weather - Swansea is located on the coast and can be subject to rain and wind, which can be a challenge for those who are not used to it.
The course is being taught which allow for direct interaction with the instructor and other students, facilitating discussion and collaboration. In-person classes can be more engaging and interactive than online courses, which can help students stay focused and retain information better. However, it allows hands-on experience with equipment and technology that might not be possible in an online course. Disadvantages: For students who live far away or have scheduling conflicts, attending in-person classes can be difficult or impossible. Face-to-face courses may be more expensive due to additional expenses such as travel and housing. Risk of exposure: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person classes carry a higher risk of exposure to the virus.
The best part of Swansea is the student support, there is a lot of support provided for students to make learning and transitioning easy, I was surprised that I can actually get a one on one session to discuss my academic challenges and ways to deal with it. The part that needs improvement is to make more accommodation available for students with family as that is very limited.
So far all the classes have attended has been super amazing and the lecturers are always ready to answer your questions.
The location is fine and easily accessible.
The amazing location of Swansea University is its biggest selling point. How many universities are a stone's miles of golden sand and sea and the very friendly city of Swansea. I chose Swansea for my MSc in Social Work and also my PhD in social work and social care. This means that I have studied in Swansea University for six years. I have been extremely well supported throughout by the faculty staff and the library staff. As a mature student with five children of my own, I would be very happy for my children to study in Swansea University as it offers plenty of excitement within a small, safe campus and city that is not too overwhelming. If city life is not for you, then the miles of beaches on the Gower Coast and the hills of the Brecon Beacons are not far away. It is a University that supports both the academic and wellbeing needs of the student and I do not hesitate in recommending Swansea Uni.
much of my learning / supervision is now inline, but my supervisors would happily meet me face to face. Following lockdown, this has become the norm for teaching now. There is a good balance of online and face to face teaching which means there is greater flexibility for students with other commitments outside of their academic studies. The balance is just right.
Did my undergrad at Swansea and thoroughly enjoyed. Well-structured degree that gives you lots of options. Continuing on to my post grad course has further developed my knowledge and given me lots of experience and contacts within industry. Would recommend to anyone who wants to increase their knowledge within the field, get involved with world-leading research and get some once in a lifetime travel opportunities.
The courses on the EngD programme are well taught for the most part. Some are quite irrelevant but this is expected due to wide range of projects. Content is well prepared and thorough, but organisation of the modules within the EngD programme needs work.
Swansea is a great city to live in with regards to cost of living and also safety, despite the bad reputation it gets. Good nightlife in the city and therefore lots of opportunities to work in bars, clubs etc. There are less opportunities for engineering students than I hoped, but this increases if you go further afield. Public transport is poor. The bus services are unfortunately consistently unreliable and parking on Bay campus - which is far from town - is very limited.
Swansea University is cozy and makes you feel welcomed and inclusive. With the majority of students being international, Swansea University and Swansea itself becomes even more vibrant and cheerful, whose university motivates any student to live, study and create lifetime friendships.
Contact with lecturers is regular given the time due, and they are helpful in the hardest situations any student is facing with reliable and resourceful content and hints for students to excel throughout their Ancient History course, whether an undergraduate, MA or PhD
Comfortable and quiet for any student who lives and study there. It could however have a rather regular cleaning process, at least twice per week, based on my personal experience when I lived there a few years ago.
Quite simply, there are no worst aspects. Swansea University is an amazing university. The academic staff are incredibly well-informed and helpful. My PhD supervisors have really made the difference at all stages of the research process. Without exception, everyone I have met within the Psychology Department has been super friendly and only too keen to help wherever they can. The university itself is equipped with the most up-to-date facilities, which provide all the assistance you could wish for. The university is a progressive, research-focused university which continues to make a global impact. The location of the university is stunning with a beach literally on its doorstep and the amazing Gower Peninsula round the corner, which boasts another 15 beaches! If I were looking for a progressive, helpful university located in a stunning area, I wouldn't look beyond Swansea.
Mu supervisors are not only highly approachable but they are subject-matter experts, too. Nothing is too much and they are always ready to help. I'm lucky to have had them as my research supervisors.
It is well-equipped facility with an eye for cleanliness. There are several activities happening throughout the year for students to get involved in. The staff is very helpful and supportive. Students Union looks into every problem brought in by the students and gets involved to help in whichever way possible. Uni has this get-together activity where they take their students and staff on several trips to different parts of UK and at considerably cheap prices. From Engineering student point of view, the courses here are very involved enabling you to not just get the theoretical knowledge but also allows you to apply those theories in real life. It is a beautiful campus on the beach with a spectacular beach view
The best and worst part of my coursework is the freedom that have been provided for my research which sometimes is so relaxing but at times misses that extra push required.
It is near to the beach and hills so spectacular location. Cost of living has risen exponentially in the past year but it is still cheaper than rest of the UK
The halls are quite expensive as they come with inclusive of bills but they are well maintained
The library is open 24 hours a day which makes it easier to head over there after being in uni or placement. There are many different facilities to eat at, the one thing i believe that could be improved is the amount of seating areas for when you are eating
A lot of the course is on Zoom which makes it hard sometimes to communicate with the lecture due to the volume of the people on the call. Overall the course is great but we aren’t in lectures in person enough
I am from swansea, and i have loved growing up here. there are a lot of things to do and it’s great meetibg new people here from uni and showing them around the town
Best aspects: Beautiful location of bay campus Students are all genuine- a community of sorts Staff extremely helpful Rewarding place to learn Feel valued by everyone Lecturers are genuinely driven to their research and assistance to students Improvement areas: Not enough free time as a mechanical engineer compared to other disciplines Coffee- Costa is not enough to fuel innovation On campus activities is good but can be made aware to students better
Mentioned before in the university section. But to add: university was excellent during COVID, they did everything they could and then some to make sure we were educated. Students that hold the group back in modules where there is a group work, with no extenuating circumstances, should have harsher repercussions and the remaining group members should have mitigating circumstances for this.
Best things: Location and view from the tower University Tesco is excellent Maintenance is fast Need to improve: Internet on the 6th floor of the tower, it gets quite bad sometimes.
