Great University, Staff go above and beyond their duties; it is evident they care about the students they teach. As it is a small university there is a great feel of community and everyone knows each other. Highly recommended.
Everyone I know who has attended this university has been in employment within 2 years of leaving if not already graduating with a job.
The Primary Bed is a great course, however I believe that more changes need to be made to the Post-Primary course. Also, St Marys have 8 weeks of teaching placement and Stranmillis only have 6.
The students union play a vital role in the university and are always willing to help students. They run consistantly throughout the academic year and run events on a weekly basis.
The accommodation is dated and some halls are in need of refurbishment. They do not have common rooms, however all the stranmillis students seem to enjoy cramping into the kitchen to socialise or hanging out in one of the bedrooms. Some Halls have much larger kitchens which can be used as a social area; however the Halls without ensuite's do not.
The library is small (however as the university is small this is expected) and it can often result in students not being able to find a computer to use as there is a limited number. However the library offers great teaching materials and is continually being updated with new books.
Stranmillis have a fantastic GAA club which is well established. The King's Scholars Rugby club is well established and respected as they have some great achievements. One of the most popular clubs to be involved in is the Stranmillis Pantomime - This is one of the biggest events in the university every year and is entirealy produced and directed by students; the society sees hundreds of students getting involved every year. The university also have a fantastic Christian Union who run events throughout the year - they meet every Tuesday and have a great relationship with all the other clubs and societies on Campus. The Christian union is the largest society is Stranmillis with over 300 students attending every week. .
Extremely poor - Students use the Students Union as their support guide as they feel they will get better advice and that door is always open; and if not the President and Exec team are always willing to listen and help. The Student Support Services could be improved.
