Very rewarding! supporting tutors and allowing us to achieve the grades that we are most capable of reaching. into 5th year of being at Solihull colleges and it is still a great college.
Offers career advice
I like it is very interactive - everyone adding thoughts on each topic
very supportive - interactive class for you to ask questions
Am pleased with the support from staff and my sc and also the use of moodle to help with my learning love the library and the study skills to enable my learning
They have careers department and job skills also have support for cv and personal statements.
The support from teaching staff and the use of moodle
Good have Costa and canteens serve hot and cold foods with snacks. Also can pre order meals
Tutors are great. Make many friends. The girls that I am on this course with also give me so much support, it's nice to know that they are willing to help, just as much as the tutors. I've achieved the best grades I have ever received.
The careers department get in touch with students via email, and face to face meetings, about the work opportunities that arise within your specific chosen area.
Tutors are always available to you. I work as a full time student attending one day a week in higher education, so even when I am not at university, I know I can email my tutors with any questions and queries I may have, knowing they will get back to me as soon as they can. The thing I hate most is the uni hours, as I am here from 12-9pm!
Fantastic. I attended here back in 2010, and the facilities have improved since. With a higher education department, toilets on every floor, lifts are a god send, especially when you have so many books to carry. Also, the cafe, and canteen area to socialise. We have open access and the library to study. And many more...
I think it's great. Any problems I have, questions or queries, the tutors are always there.
Satisfied with my learning and with how the course applies to my work I enjoy the modules and I like how the tutors teach them allowing both independent and group work
Study skills is a module that helped me improve acadmically allowing me to write good essays anatomy and physiology is relevant to my job and helps me to be aware of illnesses and why they are caused and I am also allowed to complete competencies that I have not learnt before
I like doing both group work and independent work
Very good I have access to a university centre with computers always available the library for all of my resources and I know I can have support if I need it
The groups are small allowing more time for one to one support and the tutor is always there if extra support is needed also you can email the tutors with any help needed
its been great, I love the college, as its just the right size to not feel overwhelmed. lots of great books in the library and the HE center is perfect study environment
the course has lots of links to industry with visiting lecturers and workshops who are working in the West Midlands. the careers department run workshops in CV writing, interview skills and career planning As part of the course I have to undertake work experience, I have shadowed a wedding photographer and worked in a photography studio. the course has given me numerous transferable skills to work in the industry these have included time management, work flow and working with others
I like the tutors, they are easy to talk to but also very honest on your progress and push you further to achieve
excellent, there is a black & white and colour darkroom, a photographic studio with the latest equipment and adobe creative cloud. if we need anything we just ask the tutor and she organises it
the tutors are excellent, always on hand to ask questions, they reply quickly to emails and give constructive feedback. there are lots of services to access easily
I have been here for three years and studied the animal management course before this. I returned because I really liked it. I have never had any issues and I'm happy with the college.
I enjoy college to have a day away from the workplace to learn new skills and information which I want to be able to use in future and help me progress in my career. It is nice having a class with varied people and ages in so we can all learn from one another with our experiences and viewpoints. The days are quite long but enjoyable with staff and students within my class. The amount of assignments and reading is a lot to keep up with when there isn't time to complete any work within the day at college and having a busy home life as well.
Careers department are available for meetings and CV completion help
As there is a lot to fit in within one day, the day is quite lengthy and can become easy to lose concentration sometimes. Lecturers are very helpful and try to create groups so we move around within the class and talk to other people to keep minds active. A bit more variation in teaching could be added.
There is a canteen within the whole college and a separate HE area allowing some quieter space with like minded students. Toilet facilities aren't the best and also classrooms are quite small and only 1 room is able to accommodate our large group which we stay in all day. There also seems to be a lack of available classrooms/spare rooms to go into if you do want to work alone and the only quiet space is the library.
Tutors are very helpful and guiding if you need help or advice which is great to know you are able to access support if needed. Feedback is good from assignments to be able to use in future however sometimes I find it not being very descriptive and hard to understand.
I feel very safe and happy at university and looking forward to the next 2 years. All staff and students are very welcoming making my time exciting. I hope to achieve the best I can.
The course has developed me to understand different career pathways and to learn new skills to make me more employable.
One area which I like the most about the course is the support I receive from the lectures and the amount they get me involved.
Toilets are very poor. No hand wash.
The support given from the college is very good. My tutors are very willing to answer and questions I have.
diverse group, supportive tutors, interesting lessons, variety of assessments, good resources online. Happy with the way the course is run - would recommend to others
careers advisor, transferable skills
like - Condensed into one day, variety of lecturers, college based, variety of assessments, support given dislike - nothing
feedback could be more detailed and more guidance on how to get the top marks
Very good. The college has very friendly staff who are helpful. There is element of flexibility in the courses offered. The college has a good reputation. I am overall satisfies so far.
It offers career sessions for advice which I can book.
I mostly like it being very structured and knowledgeable. Also the fact that the course is taught once a week is beneficial for working students. If i do miss a class to get the tutor to catch up with may be time consuming but is nothing to do with the way they teach
Very good. Tutors always willing to offer support and advice
