Business Administration MBA (International)

The reason this university does not attract executives who seek typical executive education is because they try to put people in a concentration camp. With reference to Post Graduate studies which are all offered at Wheatley campus: It is a remote place where you need a car to have a normal life. Students have two choices: Live at the remote site and live in solitary confinement because you are 5 miles from town - or live in town and wait out in the cold for a bus each time you head to campus because you are not allowed to park your car at the campus - or obtain a parking permit. In conclusion - another review stated that the institution attracts only drunks and old people: It is because forward thinking executives would rather go somewhere else than be locked up and restricted by such crazy terms and conditions. Message to the Dean: Is this the year 1960 or 2013? Wake up and loosen up in order to attract executives who have higher expectations in life!

Art and Design Foundation Diploma

I'm currently doing an Art Foundation at Brookes, and I have to say, I am not enjoying it! I might recommend this course for anyone who want this to specifically get onto a universtiy, but for someone like me who already has a university place and wants to use it to gain more skills, be sure about the choice they've made, have a year out to earn money etc please, consider something else. This course is specifically geared for students who need help putting together a porfolio or don't know what type of art career they want to go in to, but for everyone else its usless and annoying. You get 6 weeks to decide which discipline you want to go into with stressful one week projects in the five areas (you choose which) and then after that you have to decide. We haven't yet been taught any skills like print making, letter press or book binding apart from mono printing and a small foray into glass, even though there are the facilities. There is no indication that there will be any formal training for essential things like photoshop. Every week there are lectures from artists and universities, however instead of the artists telling us about how to get into the industry and tips they've only ever talked about themselves and their work, which is ultimatly quite boring and makes it impossible to finish any of the projects to a high standard for the tight deadlines, meaning that everything in your porfolio is rushed and a bit rubbish. Sometimes I get the feeling like we're treated like idiots, we have weekly 'learning support' lectures, where they teach us how to research and skim read, which I find extremely unhelpful, of course I know to go to the library and skim read! Materials are very expensive, you have to buy them for yourselves
