Our collection of real, honest student reviews of unis and courses is the largest in the UK, and helps you make well-informed decisions about your future. Student reviews also form the basis of our annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs), which highlight great work carried out by institutions for their students.
Best Aspects of University Experience: Academic Opportunities: Universities often provide a wide range of academic programs, courses, and research opportunities, allowing students to explore and specialize in their areas of interest. Social and Cultural Diversity: University campuses are typically diverse, bringing together students from various backgrounds, cultures, and countries. This diversity can lead to rich social experiences and exposure to different perspectives. Extracurricular Activities: Many universities offer a variety of clubs, sports, and organizations that allow students to pursue their interests outside the classroom, develop leadership skills, and make new friends. Networking and Career Opportunities: Universities often provide resources for career development, including job fairs, internships, and connections with alumni, which can be beneficial for future career prospects. Personal Growth: University is a time for personal development and growth. It provides opportunities to learn independence, critical thinking, time management, and other essential life skills. Worst Aspects of University Experience: Financial Burden: The cost of tuition, textbooks, housing, and other expenses can be a significant burden for many students. Student loans and financial stress are common concerns. Stress and Pressure: Academic pressure, deadlines, and the competitive nature of some programs can lead to stress and burnout for students. Uncertain Job Market: Graduates may face challenges entering the job market, depending on the economic climate and the demand for their specific skills. Large Class Sizes: In some cases, students may find themselves in large lecture halls with limited interaction with professors, making it challenging to get individualized attention. Adjustment Challenges: For some students, adjusting to the academic, social, and lifestyle changes of university life can be difficult, leading to feelings of isolation or homesickness. It's essential to keep in mind that individual experiences at any university can vary widely, and what might be a positive or negative aspect for one person may not be the same for another. It's a good idea to research specific universities, talk to current students, and consider your own priorities and preferences when making decisions about higher education.
Best Aspects of a Course: Engaging Content: A well-designed course often has content that is interesting, relevant, and engaging. This can motivate students to actively participate and learn more effectively. Effective Teaching Methods: Courses that employ varied and effective teaching methods, such as interactive lectures, group discussions, hands-on projects, and real-world applications, can enhance the learning experience. Supportive Instructors: Instructors who are knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive can positively impact the learning environment. Accessible instructors who provide timely feedback and guidance contribute to a positive learning experience. Practical Application: Courses that incorporate real-world examples and applications can help students see the practical relevance of the material and better prepare them for future challenges in their field. Collaborative Learning Opportunities: Courses that encourage collaboration and group work can enhance interpersonal and teamwork skills, preparing students for the collaborative nature of many professions. Worst Aspects of a Course: Poorly Organized Content: Courses with disorganized content, unclear objectives, or poorly structured materials can hinder the learning process and create frustration for students. Lack of Resources: Insufficient resources, including outdated textbooks, limited access to necessary software or equipment, and a lack of online resources, can negatively impact the learning experience. Ineffective Assessment Methods: Courses that rely solely on exams or assessments that do not accurately reflect the material covered can lead to a superficial understanding of the subject matter. Limited Interactivity: Courses that lack opportunities for student interaction, class discussions, or hands-on activities may be less engaging and hinder the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Fantastic. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at NCH, and I would strongly encourage people to apply who are interested in History, both public and academic. The small class sizes are so helpful, and I have really developed as a historian as a result.
Very good - London is a fantastic location for History students. NCH is minutes away from the British Library and Senate House Library, and the National Archives are a short tube journey away.
Very good - the academics are quick to respond to emails and are nothing but helpful in their feedback with essays and thoughts, etc. The dedicated Welfare Team are extremely helpful, and always there for support, offering one-to-one help if needed.
Very good - the closest accommodation is around 5 minutes walk away, and the university is in the heart of Bloomsbury so the amenities are endless!
The classes are small and very interactive, which is fantastic for a postgraduate programme. I was worried at first that it would be too small, but actually I have seen more improvement in myself as a result of what turns into weekly discussions/small group tutorials rather than lectures.
As a postgraduate student, I have access to the LAUNCH lectures the undergraduates participate in and all the services this has to offer, including one-to-one careers advice. The first people to contact me outside of Admissions were the LAUNCH team who have been very helpful in offering advice for my future career goals.
It's great, it's a lot of work but it's definitely worth it since university is meant to be focused on academic work. It's easy to make friends because everyone knows each other.
The university is based in central London right next to Bedford Square and the Senate House Library.
The support is great since the staff student ratio is so small. I want to especially highlight the careers support that is actually helpful for getting internships.
Student accommodation is all around London, the closest is five minutes from NCH. The further out the less expensive it is of course.
The teaching of the courses is absolutely great because the class sizes are so small. In my macroeconomics class we are seven students to one teacher who can really focus on each of us. We have weekly 1-1 tutorials that are great for in depth understanding of the assigned readings for politics for example.

We have an entire course dedicated to careers support called Launch where we take on actual business projects to increase our employability.
Incredible - extremely grateful for the choice I have made. The professors are fantastic, the rigour is exactly what I was looking for, I feel like my academic life is maximised my going to NCH
Good/acceptable. Need for more tables. The bathrooms are fantastic. I have faith in our facilities officer
Good system - personal counselor not being in major really helps! No fear to make claims to them.
Incredible location! Well connected train and bus system
Most - small classes, incredible professors - great quality, rigor, professors know my name as well as strengths and weakness/me as a person. Worst - routine - everything stays the same in lectures.

LAUNCH and personal counselors for jobs help. Launch is so individual to NCH - helps with CV, presentation, team work, etc.
Very satisfied- the one to one tutorials are the best part. Although we can have more weekly office hours that we can go and discuss issues that isn’t essay related
Really good. The college is small so we have w lot of facilities for students
It’s amazing as we have tutorials that’s just about my essays and how I can improve. So I get in person feedback.
My university is in the perfect location for students. It’s in Bloomsbury which is the heart of student life
The most- small classes which gives me so much opportunity to talk and discuss issues I want to discuss. Least- some courses don’t have my discussion time

We have regular talks we can attend so an amazing effort
University has good conditions to study philosophy. Although you can clearly see that university is still in progress and the courses sometimes look not very well structured, in general it is a good place to be.
They are really good and accessable
Suppport is very good and you can get answers very fast
Yes it has a perfect location and buses and underground are very close
I like that there are not many studends and everyone can get attention. I least like that some courses do not have seminars

I was offered to work as research assistant and I think other students get chances as well
I have exceeded. expectations for my own growth in academic achievement, and have opened up new opportunities for myself through my education here that I would not have expected possible.
As this is a relatively small uni, it has all the facilities required to account for the current size of student body. The quality of facilities is high.
Ecellent
The central location of the university means it is easily accessible from all parts of london. I live on the central line in east London and it is an easy 30min commute for me. Central London also provides all the local amenities you might need, from gyms to GP surgeries, libraries, and shops.
Because of the size of the university we have an opportunity to be taught in relatively small class sizes compared to other universities. I think this is particularly beneficial for me, as I have dyslexia and ADHD, as it allows me to engage more in discussion and with questions, which benefits my style of learning

The university provides a specially tailored core module called LAUNCH that aims to increase workplace skills and employability. I worked prior to going to university, so it was interesting for me to assess how useful this course was fo those who had never been in a workplace environment before, as well as gaining skills myself. I think that the thoughtfulness of the course content, and the skills that can be attained from an introductory perspective add exceptional value to any degree taught at NCH.
The quality of education is fantastic, I enjoy the location tremendously, and the social and student aspects of NCH are very fun. I could not be happier with my university choice.
Toilets and kitchens on each floor, always kept clean.
Excellent. Faculty members get to know you well through the tutorial system and genuinely care about you. Counselling, however, has been know to be quiet sporadic in availability and will often simply advise you to see some "more qualifified".
Ten minutes from TCR and Goodge Street, dozens of buses, plenty of shops, pubs etc within a five minute walk. It really is the heart of London.
The tutorial system is particularly good, but has pros and cons: while it gives a better and more indepth learning experience it is very intense and does not allow for slacking (which, I suppose, is really a good thing). Lectures are small and so have a seminar feel to them which is great.

LauNCH is fantastic. There are plenty of opportunities to make connections. The NCH careers instagram is also really good.
So far I can say that I very happy about choosing this university. Everyone is great and very helpful. I have met people with different backgrounds. I feel confident to share my opinion or to talk with professors about my doubts or my future career.
Facilities at NCH are amazing!! There is a lot of space to study individually or with others.
The support is really good. We receive a lot of feedback and we have plenty possibilities to talk to our professors as much time as we want.
NCH is perfect location because it is in centre of London really close to many tubes or bus station. You can find also many restaurants, pubs and coffees around. Also there is a huge library 5 minutes by walk.
We are not a lot of people so it's easy make questions and have debates.
Doing this master I have the possibility to increase my writing skills.
I really enjoyed every bit of it. From freshers week throughout my first term it was a great experience. Student life and academics were easy to fuse and made it super fun to be a student in london
Sufficient for the courses offered. I have needed more than is provided
Very good in both cases. Additionally to the academic tutorials, we are always welcome to ask our professors too whenever we have a question. Moreover, we have a tutor outside our faculty who we can approach if we feel uncomfortable talking directly to memebers of our faculty. Lastly, we have very good career counseling
Very good location. Super central
I love the many contact hours and the three level interaction of lectures, seminars and tutorials. I like the least that seminars are not always close to the lectures

We have a launch program to increase our employability. We also have critical reasoning and a lot of guest speakers to ensure we have a well balanced education beyond just our course. And of course we also have career counseling helping us to prepare to enter the work market.
Other students also liked these unis - you might too!
Best is the location and the people. Academics could do with improvement
I enjoy the support from the lecturers and the college wanting to provide a nice studying environment for higher education students. I do enjoy the campus site however a disadvanta...
Everyone is Friendly including Faculty. Overall best but instalment duration for international student is bit challenging. Shoulfd b 6 month instalments plan
