Good academics, but not enough continual examination all the examinations take place at once.

Very nice building and maintenance

Best: Lecture and course content, tutors are good, placement year idea is good, facilities are good. Worst: workload is backbreaking and shattering

Most: Good value for money generally, good location, good opportunity to make good friends. Least: buildings are cold war era and feel a bit outdated. To be expected but nonetheless unpleasant, on party nights the village becomes a hotbed of hooliganism.

I love how social it is and how much of a community faraday feels like. Toilet blocks often without being fixed, kitchen has no oven and little space.

I absolutely love how varied the teaching is for the different modules. For certain modules, we have had online videos to watch alongside attending the in person lectures which has helped keep the learning more efficient, especially when the content has got heavy or coursework deadlines have been approaching. It has meant we have had the flexibility of the videos and are able to go back and review content that way (although not advised) if needed. The only thing I would say is that there have been a few lecturers who speak too quietly, which has made it difficult to learn sometimes.

The teaching quality at Loughborough has been a major disappointment for me. While a few lecturers are genuinely great – knowledgeable, engaging, and approachable – the majority don’t meet the standard I expected. Many of my course modules are poorly taught, with outdated, incorrect, or unclear materials that make it difficult to follow along. The way content is delivered often feels rushed or unorganised, and some lecturers seem uninterested in engaging with students. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to learn but the resources and teaching don’t support you effectively. This lack of consistency in teaching quality has made my course far less engaging than it should be, and at times it’s even been discouraging. Loughborough needs to invest more in improving the way lectures and course content are delivered if it wants to keep up its reputation academically

"I’ve really enjoyed staying in Rutherford for almost two years now. It’s a peaceful and relaxing place to live, which has made it a great experience overall. My room is spacious, which is a big plus, and having an ensuite toilet and shower is convenient, although the bathroom itself is a bit on the small side. The food provided is decent – not amazing, but not terrible either – with a good variety of options to choose from, so it’s been fine overall. The location is another highlight; the halls are well-positioned on campus, not too far from my lectures or the union, and there’s a handy convenience shop just up the hill. One thing I really appreciate is the warden. They’ve been great at helping secure specific rooms for returners where possible, which adds a personal touch. The warden has been in the role for a long time and is actively involved, which is reassuring. Maintenance isn’t always perfect, and it can take a little time to get things sorted, but they do eventually get the job done, and I haven’t faced any major issues so far. Overall, my time in these halls has been very positive, and I’d happily recommend them to other students looking for a peaceful and convenient place to stay on campus.

Most modules taught well, one or two teaching was incomplete with slow delivery pace and failure to record multiple lectures.

It's a pretty terrible accommodation, dirty, noisy, old, with things breaking. You are also sharing with lots of people. Its good value for money and good location but other than that I wouldn't recommend it.
