Obviously at Loughborough sport is so important and I’ve been able to get involved with all the sports I’ve wanted to. Hall sport (IMS) has been excellent with football being the perfect level of competition.
Some lecturers are hard to follow and sometimes it doesn’t feel like certain lecturers are putting themselves in the shoes of the students.
My only issue is that the cleaners don’t seem to take much care but I appreciate that they have a lot of rooms to clean.

The best aspects of my uni experience have been the sports clubs and general campus facilities! I have loved being involved with sport, however with Loughborough being so prestigious it is often difficult to get into your preferred sport as I, and many of my friends, discovered. Some lecturers are amazing, they really care about students and clearly put a lot of effort into making our course enjoyable. However, some lecturers really leave a lot to be desired. They make no effort to make the subject interesting and out very little work in to our course in terms of running seminars or providing practise material. The general running of the university and the Student's Union also needs improvement. I have been involved with a sport team committee for 2 of my years at university and we have encountered several problems with the union including several buses not being booked and invoices not being paid on time. The university does not give enough notice about things such as exam timetables and graduation dates. Many other unis already know their exam and graduation dates but we are left in the dark for far too long.
I have really enjoyed the mix of on demand, online and in person lectures this year and I feel as though the balance had been just right. Some lecturers, particularly those specialising in micro economics have been amazing throughout my degree and have made it very interesting and engaging! However, other some other lecturera really do leave a lot to be desired and I think could put in some more effort to show they actually do care about students. The contact time with our personal tutor is lacking, mine doesn't appear interested and I'm not sure even knows my name after 4 years. This is a great service but it really needs to be worked on and evened out, as I have spoken to multiple others who have an amazing relationship with their personal tutor.

I love the campus and library here, there is always a place to study. The union is good too. I would improve the accommodation, most are basic and not modernised. I share a kitchen with 11 people when the website says maximum 8.
The course content is good and informative. The Q&A forum is good, the lecturers reply promptly. Some of the lecturers basically just read off the slides.
Loughborough is a nice town with all the essentials. It feels a safe place to live. The sprint bus however is unreliable, often have to wait 30/40 mins and then two come at once when it’s meant to be every 10 mins.
Telford is basic. I am paying the same as other blocks that have been modernised. The price is good and cheap, good location, near most facilities and right next door to the library.

Loughborough University stands out with its amazing campus. From just taking a walk around you immediately get this sense that you are welcomed into the Lboro Family with such an energised atmosphere created from not only the unbelievable amounts of sports and activities taking place throughout the year but also the high-end facilities and expert lecturers/tutors who form such empowering courses. In terms of location, there isn't too much to do around Loughborough town and the only other thing to be aware of is that there is huge student support available but you have to actively go and ask for it yourself. But overall the University is constantly adapting and making changes in line with the student's feedback so there isn't much more I could have asked for!
Coming out of the Covid period, the lecturers/tutors have done amazing to bring back a sense of normality to our learning. The teaching quality is really good with a lot of emphasis placed on skills for industry to help us get work placements after our second year.

Loughborough as a town is not very student friendly, so there is not much to do outside of university, and this can make your week pretty boring
We barely have classes throughout the week, so even though it helps us become independent learners and graduate, I personally think, as an international student, I am paying way too much for the amount of lectures, studio, guidance, etc, that we currently have.
Great hall for price. Met lovely people

There are plenty of events around Loughborough, catering to many different people, for example, there are several opportunities for non-drinkers to get involved. Furthermore, there is lots of green space in and around the campus, that are great areas to study and socialise on a sunny day. Accomodation is very clean and well kept, with social spaces provided in most halls. However, some rooms are quite small and narrow. There are very good connections from Loughborough heading north (Nottingham, Sheffield) and South (to Leicester and London). However, travel from East to West is not straight forward, as there are often no direct routes.
Each module provides an appropriate challenge, with most students being of similar ability level and past experience in Computer Science. Lecturers are incredibly helpful and friendly, and happy to provide additional help where needed. There is not a great deal of student support available, with opportunities to speak with academic tutors being infrequent and only once a semester. This leads to meetings with them being awkward and unhelpful. Overall, I love the course and find it very interesting and motivating.

Accommodation is decent, dining halls are a good place to socialise. Decent amount of societies, could be more. People aren't too social unless events are to do with drinking. Facilities/ computer labs are pretty good, good amount of study spaces. Easy access to Nottingham and Leicester (can't comment on them, not been). Everything you need in town, Spoons is nice (even though I don't drink). Lecturers are also alright. Best part for me is definitely the people and how close everyone is, so easy to organise things to do. Worst part is also the people, decent amount of people who have fragile egos and feel emasculated by everything, also big drinking culture, so can get loud in village + messy.
I have not seen my tutor since the first week, or anyone in my tutor group, bit weird. Some of the lecturers like spending an hour recapping things they've already taught us, some also like to really overcomplicate things. However, they do make some really good learning resources, so the lectures might not be too helpful but the resources for individual study are. The course is all in-person now but the lectures are recorded for access the day after. It's CompSci, so most people don't like coming out of their rooms, so will just watch the lecture the day after. Not met about half the people on my degree because of this, outside of messaging. The facilities are pretty good, lots of Macs and Windows PCs and Haslegrave (the CompSci building) is open 24/7 for CompSci students. The library is also open until 2am, so that's also pretty good. Can't really comment on careers or placements, I'm a first year, but I'd assume it's alright. Also, the breadth of the content is admirable.

The campus is beautiful, especially in the summer, and as a woman I feel safe walking around even despite the high number of men attending the uni. The library is a great place to study with a nice cafe inside. On the downside, the students union recently removed a room which was used for clubbing mainly by minorities, which was a controversial move, but they are working to resolve this with students. Lecturers are very knowledgeable but as with most universities, your experience depends on the lecturer you get, there are some great, some less great ones! The town is small but great, and the public transport to get around Loughborough is pretty decent, especially on campus where travel by bus is free, so you can use them to get to your lectures whenever you might be running late, and virtually everything is within walking distance too.
We could use more time with our tutors, as after first year we don’t have regular meetings with tutors which we would benefit from. I find the contents of my course very interesting as well as the options we have to choose from, but others may find them limiting. Our overall facilities are okay, mainly limited to computers for use in coding modules, but there is no shortage of these on campus. There are weekly emails to students in second and third year informing you of work placement years that are being advertised, which is great when you want to find one of these, which i recommend to help you find out what sort of career you may be interested in. My own placement year has allowed me to remove some options from graduate positions, so even if you don’t enjoy them, it’s not a waste of time.
The town is small but cosy, and there’s plenty room for the entire university. Everything is within walking distance but there are regular buses across the town, and Loughborough train station has good links to London and Leicester, so you can get virtually anywhere from Loughborough
David Collet was far from my uni lectures and also the furthest away from town, so it was a longer walk. I requested a quiet room, and while I was allocated a room in the quiet block, it was next to the common room, so I often had loud drunk people just a few metres from me on nights out. There were no lifts in my block, so we had to walk up a tower of stairs, which was a lot of walking especially if you live at the top of the tower. During covid, I moved back home, but the rooms weren’t maintained by the university appropriately, and many people had mould growing in their rooms when they returned, and the water was not flushed per appropriate measures to ensure safe drinking water. Shared bathrooms were also not great, but there is the choice of en-suite which I didn’t request.
