The annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) highlight the incredible work carried out by institutions for their students. Due to Covid restrictions, this year’s awards were not collected on uni campuses as usual, but instead based on submissions from institutions, which were then judged by our special student panel.

I have loved it! I would not have chosen ANYWHERE ELSE to go to uni. I love how there is a nice community feel at Trinity which is one benefit of a smaller uni!
We have the MyFuture team who assist with reading CVs for placement and postgraduate jobs. There is always a list of current vacancies outside the office for us to look at and they are always very helpful in finding students what they want.
I love the freedom I have in my course, as it is a research degree. However I think more can be done to integrate postgraduate students into the community of the uni and that the space we use for research could be improved and facilitated better
I think they do their very best to represent everyone for such a small uni, however, I do not like the fact that I have to pay card in their facilities as it is not how I budget and I don't think that it should be the only option, especially at the student bar.
We have good facilities in my opinion and they are always very comprehensive and helpful.
It is very good in terms of distance to my accommodation. It is quite far away from Leeds city centre and from the nearest supermarket, but the shuttle bus makes life so much easier. It is completely free and takes me to wherever I need to go - the train station, the supermarket and the nearest doctors surgery
There is a nice variety of sports though I think that attention is placed on the larger clubs too much. There are a lot of smaller societies and sports clubs which could use some more attention!
The support offered in all areas of student life is amazing here
It has been amazing. I've managed to have 2 years as course rep on my course and offered many different opportunities. Plus met the best people I could do on the course and in halls.
We go on placements in first and second year, block placements and get given tasks we have to conplete whilst on placement.
I hate the least that we have visiting lectures teaching us but I like that we have had a range of modules on the course.
It is really good. You have everyone you need and they are very helpful.
They are excellent.
Yeah it's in a great location. With Uni right on campus and Horsforth town just a shuttle bus ride away.
The variety is really good. You go from Disney Society to Sober society. There are plenty of sports clubs available too.
It is really good.
Very good experience, i enjoy the university and what it has to offer. The courses are good and the lecturers are helpful and informative. Placement team is very good.
I like the the essays and assignments. Sometimes the rooms arwnt the best
University has good facilities
It's in a decent location, but for commuting it is a little out of reach.
University has been really challenging and rewarding at the same time. Its helped me developed skills as not only as a trainee teacher but as a student too. I have become more independent and made friends with various people-some who I may not have come across if I had not of come to uni.
Provide placements in first and second year for all students. They source your placements based on your interests and preferences.
I like how practical my courses are and how little the groups are so the lecturer knows your name. The least is how closely all the assignments are due in at the same time.
Produced cheap food on campus and are there if you need someone to talk to. Help support you and your voice (student voice). Approachable
Really good- there is something for everyone. They gym and library have just been recently updated. Really modern
Everythings all on one campus and we have a free shuttle bus what takes us to the connections so yeah it is.
Great, a good variety and if there isnt a society you can set one up yourself.
Great-as we have our own development tutor who we can talk about our grades with, assingments and any problems we may have within or outside of uni. You can email tutors and they will reply within 2 days. Class sizes are small so you get to build that relationship with your tutors.
Really good experience am enjoying it greatly, there’s lots on offer as well as great teaching such as sports and societies that keep you busy in university life
Yes they put on various sessions and workshops
Most the fact it’s very independent least sometimes it’s hard to get hold of lecturers
Really good up to date plenty of choice
Yes there’s a Morrison’s and a Tesco’s and there’s a shuttle bus to take you there
there is a variety but there could be more
Took a little while to get used to especially when I first started but as time has gone on I've enjoyed it a lot and I have learnt plenty of skills and Theory required for my industry as well as getting an opportunity in the industry with two placements
Has good amounts of placement opportunities and opportunities to get experience in your field
Like the mix between theory and practical throughout the years however I feel some modules could have a better structure
They do a good job, especially with the recent addition of the SU shop
Pretty standard for the most part however Media facilities are excellent
Yes, not in city centre but close enough and in a nice area
There are plenty for all interests
The support that is offered is good though I have never really used much of it
This is my 4th year at this university. I started out doing a 2 year foundation degree and quickly realised that my dreams of obtaining a full degree could be a reality. I passed my foundation degree and went on to do a top up year in which I gained a first class honours. I was then inspired to continue my studies and begin working towards teaching. I love this university and feel very supported and would consider this setting for my masters in a few years when I’ve had a rest.
By offering courses such as my PGCE that gives hands on experience at the same time as academic studies.
I love that there is lots of hands on practical work throughout some taught sessions which suits my learning style. And I don’t really have any complaints with regards to lectures.
Although I’ve never had to use them they seem like a lovely team who are always on hand.
Great, there is a Starbucks, a newly refurbished dining hall, a student bar with pizza facilities and even a small cafe in the library.
Yes, it’s very close to the local village which had lots to do and places to eat.
Great, there’s always something happening and lots of information available on how to get involved.
Great, while in placement we still have link tutors that come out to see us as well as being available either at university or via email.
It was easy to make friends at first especially in first year and the acedemic side was quite easy. Second year is very hard to make friends so there should be more to support that. The mental health service should be better and make students feel like they can see them without being pushed to go to the doctors. Attendance has been extremely bad and hardly anyone turns up to already small class sizes.
We have a placements team which are good but have had some issues with communication in the past
Attendance is shocking. I enjoy the 2 hour format and the interesting lectures
Very good. Lots to do at the bar. Could be more of a student voice online however
It is good for people who prefer to be out the way if the city I enjoy how quiet it is and there is alot if things to do in the village
Sports based society with very little other socieites for people to join which is frustrating for people who want to make more friends.
Not much mental health support though the uni claims there is Personal tutors are great
A fun filled 3 years where I have made great memories and friends. The highlights have been joining a sports team and captaining it and becoming a resident mentor for the university.
Many of my assignments have been related to the real world and have given me skills to work efficiently as an individual and as a team.
I like the various types of assignment we are given and my least favourite is having a timetable with big gaps in between lectures and seminars.
The students union has regular activities for students and has the students engaged in various events. The SU shop provides cheap food and drinks for everyone and the SU play a huge role in the sports and societies.
Excellent modern facilities
Yes my university is in a good location as it’s based on the outskirts of Leeds therefore it’s not too loud but I can also go to the city for nights out etc easily.
There are loads of sports and societies at my university and I am privileged to be apart of one and captain it.
There are a lot of support around the university for mental health, course work support, social support and tutors are always happy to help with and queries.
Good - good atmosphere, help is available and support is always given. Campus always has a friendly feel amongst it, facilities are modern and updated, catering the needs for everyone
Placement is offered as a compulsory programme in year 1&2.
A lot of power points stuff, however workshops are linked to it in order to help improve skills
Good - always hosting events
Good - modern
5 minute walk from campus
Good variety and if there isn’t one that is suitable for you, you can create your own
Always available if needed, regular drop in sessions
