technicians are really helpful and give you tonnes of advice on using professional equipment. facilities are amazing and professional quality. lecturers are kind and enthusiastic. there is a great community since it is a small place, and you get to know everyone and make friends quickly. student union needs work. since it is a small uni there are not enough volunteers to help run the s.u. and everyone is so hard working that nobody has enough time.

General Art and Design Access to Higher Education (Daytime)

It was alright. I went down the Fine Art pathway which I thoroughly regret because all of my artwork had to be developed on my own, with no direction. I had next to no help from the tutors and when they did help me it was only to create art to their personal tastes. They definitely had favourites - the ones who made art that was similar to the tutor's art (using coloured string to make lines etc.) This course was excellent for anyone going down a design route rather than Fine Art, my friends in design pathways had structured briefs, deadlines and their tutors were friendly (even if a little scary.) The studios in the design pathways were set out well, everyone had their own desk and walls to stick up their work and inspiration. The studios in Fine Art were dependent on medium used - sculpture had the biggest studio space, but people who drew and used the computers had to share studio space. This lead to me doing the majority of my work in my student accommodation (Carlton Hill is really nice btw, right by college and the city centre - Liberty may have ensuite but it really wasn't worth it) which made me wonder why I was doing the course in the first place. It felt like I was just ticking boxes again - we were even given checklists on the amount of work to hand in. Felt like A-Level. Loads of facilities though - Mac
