Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of some staff and tutors this course has been disappointing and a very unpleasant experience. Not based on the subject, more the lack of professionalism from a small number of staff on this specific course. The course was made out to be something other than what it has turned out to be. It is alot of money, time, hard work and effort to be made miserable by peers/tutors. I hope this course improves as the content of the course is interesting if delivered correctly by all, or at least has potential to be a great course for many makeup artist seeking a professional career in the industry. As it stands I have been left with less confidance than I had before I started. Despite the great staff/tutors that do support and teach productavly on the course I feel the experiences I have had and witnessed others here have I would be causious, boardaring reluctant to recommend anyone to the course untill problems raised by multiple students are addressed regarding sertain members of staff and problems in course delivery.
This course is unfortunately not based in the university building. Facilities in that building are great. Their is access to those facilities but this course is heavily based in the collage building. Not the best space or environment could be improved. It's also either freezing cold in the two rooms allocated to the classes or far too hot. The library resources are good in both the buildings. The library unfortunately is not open for late nights like some other university's.
For this course specifically, support and feedback need improving by some tutors. Where as others are very helpful and supportive.
A lack of standards through tutors and course content delivery is disappointing. One half are good the other, dreadful.
No work placements offered in the 2 years spent here. Lack of industry focused workshops or guest speakers even though advertised specifically in interviews for the course. Modules are aimed at employability but a severe lack of guidance from tutor delivering results in self teaching crutial elements of the course, so what are students actually paying for?
Thank you for your feedback
